Yeah, I was hoping to get thru my first winter with the 21ā OEM Pirelliās but the first ice storm we had changed my mind. Slid all over the road. Immediately ordered the 20ā ATās from Rivian and have been pretty happy with them. Iām not sure they perform as well as the Blizzaks or Hakkas but...
Depends. Back in the day I used PlugShare extensively (you may notice some of the chargers on backroads were listed by me) and TripPlanner as well. Then ABRP came along and it was supported much better than TripPlanner so I began using it. Of course, I always depended upon Teslaās in-car nav...
Iāve owned and been driving EVās since 2014 so range anxiety is not the issue. The issue is the various CCS networks are too unreliable. I know this from firsthand experience.
+1
Received my R1T with 21ās in June but opted to purchase the 20ās when winter weather rolled in. Glad I did since I live in a hilly part of town. Didnāt bother with spares for either the 21ās or the 20ās since Iām only using my truck for local travel.
If the CCS network ever becomes...
Neither did I. I asked my guide about a month ago and he gave me the standard reply of needing every available wheel/tire set to put on their trucks. Assuming the price is reasonable Iād just as soon get the tire change kit as well.
1) I donāt mind the blower sound. Itās much less objectionable than a lot of other PWSā.
2) The chirp must be drowned out by the door latches because Iāve never heard it. Or maybe Iāve just never noticed it.
3) I like the pock-pock sound. I agree itās hard to hear but I would cal that...
I actually have solid reason to believe that itās the seat sensor. On my R1T the front passenger seat intermittently registers no one sitting in the front passenger seat when, in fact, someone is sitting in it. There doesnāt seem to be any pattern but it happens frequently and itās concerning...
True, but I donāt mind dropping the trailer somewhere nearby in order to charge the truck. Iād much prefer a pull-thru charging station ā and Tesla has a few ā but I can live with current state of the Tesla network.
Iām fortunate that most of my driving with my R1T is local and I usually charge overnight at home. I knew this going into my purchase so Iāve kept my RAM 1500 for long trips (I tow an Airstream) but Iād love to use my R1T for that purpose. Unfortunately that wonāt happen until Tesla...
I apologize if I came across too harshly. Itās just that I get so tired of people on EV forums throwing out careless electrical advice.
Like you pointed out, changing breakers is easy, but it ignores the fact that you should do a quick load calculation to be certain youāre not overloading...
Sure, itās easy to install a new breaker but running new wiring is not so easy and something most homeowners wouldnāt/shouldnāt attempt. Youāre a perfect example of this. A 70-amp circuit requires 4 AWG NM-B wire, not 6 AWG.
Ampacity Charts
Charging at 50 amps would require a breaker (and wiring) rated for at lest 62.5 amps ā which, of course, doesnāt exist. So Iād like to know how they offer a charge rate of 50 amps.
Absolutely, but with the softer rubber Iām counting on having just slightly more control on ice. Unfortunately, I was caught off guard (hadnāt had my coffee, yet) and I instinctively took my foot off the throttle instead of feathering it. I keep my regen set to standard but even a little less...
My original plan was to stick with my 21ā wheels and OEM tires. But on Wednesday Bend had a bit of early morning sleet that coated my street with a thin layer of ice. My street has a steep slope to the main highway where itās a T-intersection and I slid all the way down. Managed to avert an...
In these situations, I always leave a note in my windshield with my phone number and a brief explanation of why Iām taking up a spot or when I expect to move. Never had a crank call, yet. People always tend to assume the worst and a little info is all thatās needed to defuse the situation.
