  1. Idle fee hate

This is similar to meters causing turnover when busy - but not needing to feed the meter evenings or weekends. There is no reason the app can’t ā€œseeā€ what is going on at the entire station and adjust as necessary - like the rules on those parking meters. Unfortunately, they do not and idle...
  2. Idle fee hate

That retro charge is a bit much and it does seem as if the system could poll the other chargers. Sorry, man
  3. Rivian CEO: "We’re really convicted" about skipping CarPlay (The Verge interview 10/6/25))

Agreed: now I just need to install it! Although for me, dash phone mount + Google Maps upgrade brought me most of the way there
  4. Lucid Gravity In Depth Review

Use-case is certainly where it’s at. Over the years we’ve mostly had SUVs mainly dealing with deeper snow, berms etc spending a lot of time in Tahoe. We’ve had 2 AWD wagons (Audi & BMW) and as I’ve said before - they drove much, much better (than high perf SUVs). Problem for me was snow...
  5. Motor Trend article on EV vs ICE cost of ownership

Sometimes, too - rates will rise/fall depending on how many payouts on that particular vehicle. I’m thinking as safety features increase, certain types of collisions are reduced which keeps payouts down which keeps rates lower.
  6. Motor Trend article on EV vs ICE cost of ownership

Vehicle purchase decisions are very emotional purchases
  7. Rivian Tri Motor R1S vs. Lucid Gravity Comparison Review by Edmunds

Big fan of Lucid products, but seems like a Tesla ā€œsuvā€ - car product vs SUV/Truck. Just because it’s 4 / all wheel drive, it doesn’t make it an SUV. Funny how evs all get compared: rarely happens with ice vehicles. Our Audi S6 Wagon drove far better than any subsequent SUV. Although both had...
  8. Driver+ Hates My New Sunglasses

Yup: mine’s done this for as long as I can remember… just need to keep a hand on the wheel when driving towards the sun in my mirrored shades
  9. Auto car wash with wraps?

Thanks, everyone - appreciate the feedback. This pops into my head every once in a while because I really like the matte wraps. But, as previously stated, handwashing the cars is just not going to happen.
  10. Auto car wash with wraps?

Ok, don’t want to touch off a big argument - wondering if anyone has had success using auto (and not touchless) car wash with wrapped vehicles? The reality of our life is I use an auto car wash 1-2 x per week and will continue to do so. Just don’t want to spend on a wrap if it wouldn’t last in...
  11. Witness: Hwy 17 Sideswipe just before The Cats

Sorry I don’t post earlier - if anyone on here is the Gray R1T that got sideswiped heading South on 17 in that construction zone just before the cats, feel free to reach out. I was the next car behind the car that sideswiped you and saw it all go down (they drifted over into your lane) and left...
  12. 2nd gen manual door opening from the outside?

Most of the cars we owned prior to about 2020 had a hidden key in the fob (thinking BMW & Range Rover) that would allow door to open after removing part of the handle. Don’t know for sure if it worked with dead battery, but guessing it did. 2020 onward I only remember key fobs, but don’t know...
  13. Rivian Update 2025.34 Now Downloading! - Upgrades / Fixes to Expect

I’m already grumbling (on the inside) now that the G2 Quads are out 😬
  14. Rivian Update 2025.34 Now Downloading! - Upgrades / Fixes to Expect

I’m sure there are others out there who have owned more, but my Rivian Gen2 is my 20th car. Until I bought our Gen 1, I’d never had another car that offered any updates that enhanced the vehicle’s audio, features or drivability (besides recall fixes). Over the years, Audi, BMW, Porsche &...
  15. When will Rivian get CarPlay? Need better Nav and hands free text

Wasn’t it AAA who did studies that showed kids in the car were as distracting as a device?
  16. It's Red Canyon Day

Love my Red Canyon Tri… but this matte steel blue quad ain’t bad either!
  17. Love my Gen2 R1S…BUT the ride quality at low speeds

If things are calibrated, there is quite a big difference between drive modes and also quite a bit of difference between Firm, Moderate and Soft settings (in all purpose). If you don’t have Sport, I’m not sure of your options. I come from other high perf SUVs and cars and really love the Sport...
  18. Sometimes slower is faster, what I learned on our 2,600 mile trip

A couple other positives re: backing off a bit: less stress scanning for cops/avoiding tickets and **generally** when I slow down a bit, I’ve found I generally drive ā€œaloneā€ for long stretches of time. It’s a big stress relief realizing how little energy is used when hitting traffic slowdowns...
  19. Sport Mode improvement via Update 2025.26 - what's your experience?

Finally drove our Dual Motor Gen 2 today and definitely like this upgrade. In All purpose, much less of a clunking noise & feel when second motor kicks in… much more subtle. You can feel it, but much less jarring. Sport mode feels quite similar to the Tri - a little more planted and to me...
  20. Anyone know what this red bar means , no one near me

This thread reminds me of morning radio when they did a call in segment asking what cd you had in the player when driving alone called ā€œGuilty Pleasureā€ 😁
