I was initially disappointed at the lack of CarPlay but now after using it in many rental cars and in my GF's Outback I can say that its cool when it works... but it often craps out and is glitchy and frustrating. It loses connection regularly and the interface is clunky imo.
I still use...
I've been watching all the Vinfast reviews on Youtube so far and the cars at least look like total junk from a build-quality perspective. I would not trust any of their products (or them) to last. I especially wouldn't trust being an early adopter of a new model of theirs.
I considered the T but ultimately got the S because
- already have a solid beater F150 for towing/dirt hauls etc.
- I often transport extremely expensive camera gear and needed max interior storage
- Smaller length for city driving/parking
- Reserved early and got the "old" price on the S, T...
The news was hilariously overblown. I was prepared to stay until Monday anyways and left "on time" technically. No one was running out of food. We ended up partying in the mud with our ski-camp neighbors so we still had a blast. The portos were getting bad but other than that people were...
Hey everyone! Just thought I'd share my experience driving my R1S to burning man this year. I know there's a lot of anxiety about bringing an EV up there but the Rivian turned out to be the ultimate BM vehicle! I was able to hit 2x free Rivian chargers ea way (leaving/returning to SoCal) so the...
Some sharp looking rigs on here!!!
Here is my 2023 Limestone R1S with Hexis Bodyfence matte PPF. I installed the PPF myself... I bought a bulk roll for $950 so while I saved a boatload of money, its not a perfectly flawless job. I think you would be hard-pressed to see any of my mistakes unless...
My biggest complaint is that being a tall driver (6'4") I can only see the bottom half of the screen behind the steering wheel. I cannot see the posted mph icon, or the turn signal icons. There isn't any seat/wheel adjustment that is comfortable and makes these seeable. I hope that Rivian would...
This thread has been super helpful. I'm doing my own PPF and trying to find disassembly info on the doors and trim and this provided a lot of that so thank you.
So true! I drove my girlfriends outback today and almost crashed it when pulling out of the driveway as I forgot to hit the brake. Driving it felt weird and the reaction time lost having to move my foot between pedals felt really pronounced. I too have my R1S on High regen and love it.
YES, I have a similar rattle and I'm less than 1k miles. Mine seems to be directly behind the center screen. I'm compiling a list of minor things before I bring it in. My window wind noise is quiet, but my friends R1S had to have its window stripping replaced as his was very loud.
Thanks for this info, very interesting details I haven't heard yet!
Maybe a CCS to NACS adapter with a spoofed MAC address would be fun! Or a way to join or create an anonymized group that batch-sells driving data for a fee. Then you as a spoof adapter owner, gets a percentage of the data you...
HAHAHA Sounds like you've fully surrendered. You are welcome to give all your info out, they make it real easy to do that. Personally, I value my privacy and my time. Being bombed with ads and scams doesn't enrich my life, but to each his own!
Awesome post!!! I absolutely love that you have adapters to jack into light poles (cam lock?) haha. I would love to see photos of your adapter collection! That would be extremely helpful as I've been thinking about this same thing. Is there any way to detect the circuit amperage on an unlabeled...
I agree! These companies have really conditioned us to accept this as "how it has to be." We have to push back and value our data just like they do. They are MASSIVELY profitable in their current business models and that includes selling your data. Sergei Brin doesn't need a new super yacht, but...
For sure we do! I use google, I use plenty of things that scrape, its inevitable, but yes I always try and get something in return for it, like email services etc. I don't like giving data away for nothing.
I would rather pay a yearly fee and have zero data scraping when it comes to most...
Thanks for that specific info. I would like to know exactly what ANY of them are scraping, not just Tesla so this isn't about Tesla in particular. I am most likely to use their network though if on a road trip and they are the new charger network we have access to. I think companies should be...
Well aware lol, I wasn't born yesterday. I never link accounts, never sign in when web searching, don't use siri/alexa and only have ghost accounts for the main social media sites. I can control a lot of it, but I forfeit some conveniences for that.
I have to accept that google reads my emails...
I know it's the norm, but that doesn't mean we have to accept it. I think we as customers need to start valuing our data because it IS incredibly valuable. We just give it away and often get nothing in return other than scam ads and phishing attacks. I think it's important to push back on this...
