Drew Baglino would be a tremendous add. I would love to see him come over to Rivian.
I'm sure there's some other talent as well. I know budget is tight but there's a lot of knowledge and experience in the market. Get it while you can.
Possibly relevant and noteworthy to you: Received wrong battery pack in my R1T
In that thread, the owner gets more usable capacity than what they paid for.
If Rivian did that, it's feasible there are other situations where the same or opposite happened. Could be a mess up at the factory or VIN...
The cost they paid to build and deliver the vehicle is sunk.
Rivian could software lock the battery and have every right to do it.
I would personally take the opportunity to make the customer happy. They didn't do anything wrong here and what if they didn't know the technical details of the...
Interesting situation. Keep us updated. It's not like Rivian loses anything from the screw up. Instead, it would be a good opportunity to build the relationship and say 'our fault, but enjoy!'
To be fair, I sold my R1T two years ago and still got the email stating I was a priority R2 customer because of my Rivian ownership. I've had another R1T reservation since before selling the first one and will be taking delivery at some point this year (I hope), but I don't know if they...
Thoughts @abct -
Yes, would buy R1T again - it was the best/coolest vehicle I've owned, despite some early build issues. I sold mine a bit too quickly, but was trying to minimize the loss I would take by reordering with the new pricing. I'm buying another R1T (dual motor, 21's) when the...
We will mostly see pain points addressed and perhaps making current standard features optional to lower the initial price point further, along with removal of redundant structures and components, which RJ has already explicitly stated they will be doing.
I could see any of the following:
heat pump (almost guaranteed, you'd have to think)
wireless charger update
glovebox
standard suspension option/removal of air compressor for an "urban" trim
redesign of gear tunnel doors - these are a bit sharp
All new tonneau cover design that will be unique...
Just got this email. I still believe the line shutdown will result in a materially different refreshed R1 platform, which is why Rivian is changing pre-order holders to vouchers, because trims/options aren't going to line up anymore.
Think this might be related to the line shutdown. This refresh is going to be a little bigger than I think many are expecting, to the point that configs aren't going to match up anymore.
If there's one thing about EVs, from the tax credit to charging, no one can sure as heck can make it easy on people. I look at this stuff everyday, like many of you. Now imagine another 100 million+ people trying to figure this out.
Standardization can't come soon enough.
I'm looking at the Supercharger map and noticed some (seemingly) V3 stations are missing.
For example, Joplin, MO, has 8 stalls at 250 kW but it doesn't show on the Rivian website map as a dot where a location is compatible.
Can anyone use the in-app or in-vehicle software to confirm? I'm just...
I went today (reservation for is actually for tomorrow). You can just walk right up. The cars are outside. It took someone 30 minutes or so to even ask to check me in and they signed me up as a walkup.
I'm also going back with my girlfriend tomorrow so that she can see it and I'll get some...
Cool. Yeah, I thought there was a slim chance, so I signed up as soon as it came through just in case. But, glad to see the interest, even if it is amongst current Rivian owners, is high.
Side note - I wonder when they are opening the Austin Space, I was told in late 2022 that it would be late...
I got it and I'm going with my SO. I wish I saw this previously or I would have added another guest and taken you with me.
I'll take some pictures and ask a lot of questions to see what I can get out of them, and post it on here, along with my thoughts.
EDIT: it looks like I can change my...
