Well yes. Rivian has to prove their autonomous system first; it's part of the contract. And the first ones for Uber roll out 2028.

I had to look it up, but the Uber-Lucid deal is only $300M. Uber-Rivian is $1.25B. I still need to look up the finer points on both though. I watched Diary of a CEO with the Uber CEO and this deal makes perfect sense with how he mentioned the future of AI and Uber.

It's been stated that crossbars will be compatible across both R1 & R2. However, that could be the new ones work for both but not the old ones. Time will tell I suppose.

I'm curious what the max total wheel/tire OD the R2 can fit without rubbing or other issues. I may just swap out OEM for aftermarket. Hopefully range doesn't take too big of a hit, but I plan for weekday commuting most of the time anyway.

Seeing the Catalina Cove in the SXSW videos made up my mind on the color. It looks amazing in those videos... much better than the pictures. Rivian R2 needs an Antelope Canyon Orange imo.
