Man this sucks, and being able to watch it only makes it more painful for owners. For those who do want to address these issues with their insurance, some companies do require a police report.
Just checked our doors on our R1S....and sure enough there are indents on the door as well (no tears). Seems the doors are pressing/slamming against the seat belt connector as it rests, even when fully retracted. You will have to go out of your way to avoid the resting seatbelt from coming...
So are you a "pre March '21" reservation holder, or a May '21 reservation holder? Either way, I suspect the majority will see a bomb up in their dates.
When we were at the factory, they said they were "backed up" on PPF installs. I think the only delay is the extra time to install the PPF, but I highly doubt a VIN assignment would be pushed to someone who does not have PPF. Just my 2 cents.
Everything you are describing sounds pretty normal compared to our experience. Not sure about the “grinding” noise with regen, but regen does make a sound for us, but I would not describe it as “grinding”.
And XPEL reps have made it very clear here on these forums that their RIVIAN PPF templates are large enough to be wrapped on all edges for all panels that don't need to be removed. Shops either don't know this, or use this an opportunity to upsell.
