Yes big miss by Rivian. Your best bet is to buy a portable AC unit, long extension cord and plug it into the 120V outlet in the Rivian. I don't know anyone that tested one to make sure it wouldn't overload the outlet but that should provide some relief in one small room in your house. Big...
There needs to be a fan speed selector fixed on the screen next to the temp selector. Nobody should be diving into a menu to change fan speed. And yes agree with OP that the fan speed selector should be able to turn on and off the AC. Adding a power button is redundant and just requires more...
Our Ford Lightning brake pedal (when one pedal mode is turned off) acts identically to any traditional brake pedal in any ICE vehicle. And the regen efficiency is identical to the regen in one pedal mode as long as you don't mash the brake pedal. There is even an efficiency "coach" on the dash...
Lol 46 degrees. My app says the same thing but that's obviously not the actual cabin temp that's reporting on the app. I'm guessing Rivian put their temp sensor literally inside the ac air vent (vs inside the cabin like it should be) but even then the air wouldn't be 46 degrees.
I have the highest grade, highest heat rejection, most expensive ceramic tint on my roof and all windows except fronts and windshield. I also have the darkest legally allowed ceramic tint for the fronts and windshield. My R1S is still extremely hot with interior temp reaching 125+ when it's...
Yes. And a proper "this trip" meter like distance traveled and time elasped in the current trip that resets on each drive. Instead we get to see motor temps. Super useful. Rivian is severely lacking in providing easy to see data for nerds.
I'm incredibly eager to get the update. The ride quality of my R1S is the most disappointing aspect of the SUV. Good to hear there is a substantial improvement to look forward to.
VW last year announced they are bringing back buttons and knobs to their UI because of common sense. So I hope this partnership means Rivian will ditch their all-screen UI and integrate some buttons and knobs for commonly used controls.
Agree it's bad. If you say anything negative about Rivian, suggest features, improvements, changes, etc, you'll get chewed up by the Rivian forum "regulars". It's interesting to see the upvotes for their defensive posts rack up as other regulars join in to support Rivian. The level of...
Totally normal. When it's hot it's extremely loud and will vibrate the steering wheel. I wear earplugs when I start it up for the initial cooling. After 5-10 mins it quiets down.
Tying or sticking a little piece of string or streamer in front of any air vent will show anyone outside the air is blowing. But I would be amazed if anyone outside can't hear the super loud ac compressor running. If this doesn't clue anyone in that the AC is running, the screen banner would...
I haven't used pet mode yet but would it be better to simply walk away from the vehicle and turn the AC on from the app? This would lock all the windows I presume? You can also check the app to make sure the temp is reflecting that the AC is on.
Previous Lightning owner here. Driver+ isn't even remotely comparable to Bluecruise. Night and day difference. We never use Driver+ because it cant even do basic lane centering on any road we take it on. It is permanently off as it provides no value.
UV has absolutely zero correlation to heat. You cannot feel UV. Nobody can. An all glass roof cooks the cabin. Tint can help to reduce the amount of infrared energy that enters the cabin but glass is still going to perform terribly compared to a conventional steel roof, particularly one...
Save your time and money. Windshield sunshade will do virtually nothing to reduce temps when the entire roof is glass. You're better off getting a shade for the roof. But even that will have a marginal impact on temps. Still better than nothing.
I'm currently at 2% a day on average which amounts to $35/mo in electricity. Gear guard off. PAAK on. My Lightning drives a full 8 miles a day on what my Rivian uses in standby power alone. Mind boggling waste of electricity.
The problem is this would cost money. I just wished they offered a solid metal panel roof instead of the glass roof that cooks you like a turkey. This would not only save money it would reduce weight (increase kWh/mile efficiency), reduce strain on a/c (further increasing efficiency), increase...
