Couldnt agree more. The blacked out letters look far more upscale to me. This is not a Bentley, it doesnt need chrome or "brushed" plastic chrome for that matter.
I just had mine replaced and the new one is better but does not lock in like the 110. My loaner from from the SC with 1K miles on it also felt excatly the same.
FWIW I made the same complaint and thats why they replaced it.
I wouldn't go so far as proposing most people identify their personality with an object but I can confirm aesthetics play a strong part to human decision making, some less than others, but its there nonetheless.
