If you equip the BMW to match a $60k R2, the price hits $70-75k, and the R2 will still be more rugged and faster. I just bought a 26 X5 50e (traded in a Grand Cherokee 4Xe), so I like BMW a lot--just not as much as Rivian ;-)

If the light interior is not available on LE, I will pass. I doubt lidar will be useful for a few more years.

I doubt they changed tooling, so tread depth is probably the same. My guess is that the rubber compound may be simpler/cheaper--which is likely to affect cold-weather traction. My R2 will spend a lot of time in Colorado and Minnesota, and I would love to find out that winter performance is decent.

BNP Paribas analysts expect fewer than 400 deliveries this quarter, before volumes ramp to about 7,000 in the third quarter and about 15,000 in the fourth.

With 7000 deliveries projected for Q2, my guess is that significant customer deliveries will start in July, which is only 9-10 weeks from now.

I am not inclined to wait for Lidar.

Only 400 estimated in Q2. Q3 is 7000, so a June 1 configurator launch makes sense.
