Bear in mind that currently a loaded Model 3 Long Range 2 motor is right at $60k with Autopilot added. FSD is $6k more than that. I think the smaller loaded tri-motor R3X at $60k is a safe bet. (all prices before any tax credits or other incentives)
I agree that Rivian likely will introduce smaller ,less powerful motors for the R3 and probably the R2 as well. They will engineer them to cut costs down with less material cost And weight savings. It is possible power delivery is dialed down to 200hp or so per motor, but we’ll see.
Unless, I’m mistaken, RJ revealed Rivian’s plans for the RAN buildout along with the new R-series vehicles. This map was displayed behind RJ during his speech.
I have not seen this particular map anywhere on Rivian’s website. The Map page currently on the Charging page displays far less...
It could be that these prototypes have been around a while and not representative on the shipping product since the NACS announcement, the location of the charge ports may change before actual production.
this totally reminds me of those 1980’s Group B Rally cars. I’m all in when it is available. The R3X will be a blast on dirt and gravel roads…. Traction control Mode Off option, please.
rivian really needs to sell the crap out of this base variant but also really needs 2 more variants ASAP- a pickup that nails the Maverick market and a more sleek X6 fastback SUV segment buster For the more suburban market.
115” wheelbase is exactly the same as a LR Discovery, which IMO will be shopped directly across. Also the Defender sits in this size range depending on the variant.
Rivian better get serious about a pickup R2 variant off the bat as the Fisker Alaska /Nissan will be a great-looking vehicle IMO. Nissan will provide a lot of muscle to getting the thing out the door And be able to fund much needed software development.
As far as any Rivian alliance I am very...
Global ICE sales peaked in 2017 and have been falling as a trend since. EV/ICE vehicle COGS price parity is projected as soon as End of 2024 in China and End of 2025 in the US. Cost of battery manufacture has fallen 80% in 10 years and that trend is driving 3rd party auto parts factories away...
Rivian may have to seek a buyer at this point. Interest rates are likely at their high point this cycle and thus a terrible time to borrow capital. Which means perhaps some sort of partner is the better option.
Apple as. a partner/owner seems to be a favorite when this conversation comes up due...
I bet the loss per vehicle widened because they started fulfilling all of the pre-IPO price orders like my delivery a month ago. The full price demand seems to have softened quite a bit along with the rest of the car industry in this price range and I bet we see price decrease announcements from...
Scout, being a VAG product, is sure to be priced at a relative premium over rival tiered vehicles. Also the Scout brand name is not a widely known entity anymore in modern America. Back in the day International Scout was pretty much a farm-related brand with a niche consumer base. During the...
I would deposit that $50k check . My plan is for this to be a very long term vehicle so with that in mind I would then spend a couple grand on a good PDR, $8k on a wrap and call it a day. Either that or PDR and start a rough country Overland look For about the same or less than a wrap. But...
