And one of the reasons it's good that lots of those early adopters were Rivian employees -- because some of them work on the software and these things probably bug them too
I know next to nothing about VINs and how they’re assigned during production, so forgive some dumb questions here:
From the looks of things, using the VIN decoder in this thread, Rivian has mostly produced Launch Edition R1Ts but not exclusively, as there are some with middle sequences of AAA...
To their credit, I emailed about the pricing fiasco and didn’t expect to hear back. But a day or two after RJ announced they were reverting to original pricing for pre-orders I got a proactive call from a CS rep asking if I had seen the update etc.
I never canceled my order, so the call was...
Yeah, call me overly optimistic, but I think it may be too early to declare a massive delay is coming (granted, that WOULD be par for the course)
For one, I'm not 100% sure the split will be 10 EDV to 15 R1 -- was that specifically called out anywhere? All I know is RJ said vaguely that the mix...
I'm unofficially out, too.
I'm holding off on canceling, waiting for a miraculous about face from Rivian, but I don't expect it; This move was clearly in the works for a long time -- with the first coordinated communication from the company in a while, including deliberately extended CS hours...

But no reservations here! The model 3 does lose some range in the winter (I’m hoping the Rivian is a little more resilient, with all the cold...
Also worth noting that companies can distribute apps to handfuls of customers without necessarily putting them in the Google / Apple stores. It's possible some people already have the app to complete their purchases as beta testers, and just aren't sharing or can't share any details
I'm way down the line, with an Explorer R1S reservation from late 2020. What I'm saying is, when you get your truck I hope you'll take a swing through Chagrin Falls :)
Just more practical for me - going to need the three rows for kids more than I'll need to haul things in the back.
Hoping they'll have some models we can see and test drive somewhere nearby in the next few months. I'm 100% sticking with my reservation, just excited to get an in-person look...
