  1. Kia EV9 Pricing Announced

The price is attractive, yes. Too bad the car isn't.
  2. Dogs and Rivians ?

You know you were waiting for your R1 a long time when the puppy you named "Rivian" is now full grown. LOL Awesome pic.
  3. Well that sucks! Rivian insurance doubles in 1 year

Interesting that they explicitly cover off-roading. Makes sense for the Rivian brand, but... explicitly allowing a high risk activity will balloon the rates/premiums for sure. I wonder if one can decline off-roading? I hope to buy an R1S dual motor and use it primarily as a family vehicle and...
  4. ? LIMESTONE R1S Photos

My neighbor has the r1s in limestone, and this photo is the most accurate on my monitor I've seen so far in this thread.
  5. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

It "should" be cheaper, but it can't be. If it were more than 10k cheaper than an R1S, it would encroach on the price of their EV6. The European pricing for the EV9 is out, and most experts expect/report that it will be comparable in the US. So, if you go AWD+large battery in the EV9, it's...
  6. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

The R1S dual motor with large battery is estimated to have ~350mi range when new. That is "significantly more" than 300, IMO. In other words, something with 305mi rated when new wouldn't really qualify. But at 350, I should be getting 250-300 miles range for at least several years. Meh...
  7. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

The R1S is probably my first choice unless something else beats it significantly (size, price, range). The EX90 does not beat the R1S on any of those metrics as far as I can tell. It's smaller, costlier, and less range. So am I missing something?
  8. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

Check the miles and range on that one, and if it has 3rd row. Gotta be a story behind that price.
  9. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

My goals / needs for a family SUV: 1) 3 rows of comfortable seating for tall-ish teens and parents. 2) AWD because we will use it in the snow every winter. 3) Significantly more than 300mi range. 4) Electric (obvs) To get the EV9 with the large battery and AWD, it's looking to be VERY close to...
  10. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

Indeed I was thinking of the Pilot. LOL Thanks.
  11. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

OK, Hang on... you guys are saying the Honda Odyssey is the roomiest 3-row SUV?? I've been in an early model Odyssey and the third row was a JOKE. Seriously? What am I missing.... Rivian R1S looks way bigger than an Odyssey.... "looks" I say - haven't been in one yet. Please educate me! I...
  12. If the R1S was under $80k I'd buy in a heartbeat

Have you seen the price estimates? Apparently European pricing was released last week, and if those numbers carry over to the USD market, it's going to cost more than the R1S for a comparably equipped Kia. For a Kia. :/
  13. Dual-Motor Rivians will feature silver & black accents (to differentiate from yellow Quad-Motor Rivians)

No, nothing yet. It is an R1S reso, not R1T, so that may explain it. Still.... my bro-in-law put an order down a couple weeks before me, and has configured and has a guide.
  14. Dual-Motor Rivians will feature silver & black accents (to differentiate from yellow Quad-Motor Rivians)

You got an email to configure a couple weeks after placing a deposit? When was this? I placed my deposit in August 2022 and have received virtually nothing since then.
  15. Dual-Motor Rivians will feature silver & black accents (to differentiate from yellow Quad-Motor Rivians)

Not yet for me, really curious when people will be invited to configure dual motor variants. I'm on the list for a dual motor R1S.
  16. Review From Former Owner & Future Owner + What I Want in R1.2

I'm not sure why people think a heat pump is a better option for cold weather climates. Heat pumps struggle (take longer) to heat the cabin with lower ambient/outside temperatures. Overall, heat pumps are more energy efficient, but if you drive in very cold climates a lot, a more traditional...
  17. Rivian R1S First Drive from a car guy / Raptor owner

I don't own a Rivian yet. I've watched videos of folks in their Rivians getting stuck in sand and mud though!
  18. Rivian R1S First Drive from a car guy / Raptor owner

I think OP was pretty clear that he was mostly focused on how little room there was to add larger aftermarket tires if one should want to. There are MANY factory new vehicles on the market that have plenty of room to up-size the tires (sometimes with a bit of body/chassis/suspension lift too)...
  19. Rivian R1S First Drive from a car guy / Raptor owner

OMG I hope you don't plan to go dune-running in the R1S, either! It.will.sink. The R1x vehicles, despite all the hype and advertising as "go anywhere" vehicles, are NOT the same as typical off-road trucks and SUVs that have decent floatation for sand and mud. The R1 has relatively small...
  20. Rivian R1S First Drive from a car guy / Raptor owner

I think most people appreciated your review (as did I) and only criticized the areas where your complaints were really kinda unfounded since they were on subjective things, and compared to a Raptor, which is just a totally different vehicle. Saying wheels too small, it felt too low to the...
