Let's Post Generators We Know Work To Charge | Rivian Forums - R1T & R1S Owners, News, Discussions, RIVN Stock
I can get 4-5kW (8-10mph) from my GM6000iED.
I chose the 6000 because that's basically the smallest generator you can get that does 240V.
Here in New Mexico for monsoon season, you have a non-zero chance of hail multiple times a week, for....like 4-6 months. It can be not a cloud in the sky at 9am, and glass shattering hail at 1pm. Start a drive to a nearby town in perfectly clear skies, small chance of thunderstorms later that...
Yup. Now with the lull due to supply chain, and relatively few cars on the road, bring in some people to iterate on the small stuff so that if/when supply chain breaks free you're good to go. But obviously you can't do too much of that since you need to refine the build as-is, and also design...
Because for the other 25 days of the month my R1T is the god-damn best car on the road. By far.
Two of my 3 pain points will probably be solved by the end of next year (and I have executed work arounds for now), and the generator one will probably always be there. I would always take a 5...
My parents live in a city of 100k people that is 180 miles away from me. There are ZERO chargers along the way and ZERO chargers in that town above 7kW.
I found a person on plug share with a NEMA 14-50 outdoor plug nearby that opens their gate for me when I show up.
Without that, the R1T...
Also received it. Gave high marks, then middling for infotainment (I don't care about car play or AA honestly), but then acting like they're going to have some critical mass for amazing apps and innovation and infotainment is kind of laughable at 25-50k deliveries a year. Unless you have a...
I use Griot's 3-in-1 ceramic spray on wax. Spray, wipe, buff.
Not as good as the full install, but only takes 15 minutes and do two coats 24 hours apart, then reapply every couple of months gets you most of the way there.
Oh please. I do MIL-STD-810G testing across the road courses at Yuma Proving Grounds and Aberdeen that shock and vibe the ever loving crap out of everything far beyond what any person could actually do. Think 8" washboard at 45mph continuously for 1,000 miles type stuff. Lots and lots of...
Agree with the super car track day thing. Would be down for that.
The Audi and BMW dealership both wouldn't shut up and just let me drive off in my car. They needed to "give me the full experience" or whatever the hell. Would've cancelled the sale if I hadn't already bought it and they were...
I freakin' loathe that about luxury companies. Just shut up and provide the luxury product. Hearing them drone on and on about whatever amazing super thing just grates on me. Rivian guide understood that, BMW and Audi didn't. Wouldn't buy from them again, would from Rivian -- I don't need 10...
It's tight but do-able for the family of 5. We've done quite a few road trips 3 across the back. Only one in a car seat (in the middle), which makes it kinda hard to buckle the other two, but after a couple of days of struggling they've gotten the hang of it.
I have black on black. Have had to clay bar some stuff off.
I do waterless washes and have the detail spray handy so clean up is just 10-15 minutes in the evening to detail / clean after a shower.
Also don't see the point in being super anal about the paint. It'll get scratched and swirled...
I gained 4% coming off Wolf Creek Pass. In reality I went 25 miles after cresting the summit before my range counter went below what it was right then.
Strain for power electronics is an interesting thing.
Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): I'd personally say "no".
Long Answer:
The power electronics are sized for the full regen load with likely significant margin to accommodate edge cases and reliability. As such, I imagine that if you looked at...
Not really. I could probably go and grab my data from everywhere and compute it. But it's kinda worthless to me. I care about efficiency solely from a max range standpoint, so including vampire losses and inverter efficiencies, etc isn't useful. Just a "In this configuraiton, 70MPH means XXX...
Is it just me, or when you get in the car is gear guard up every single damn time with a 30s clip of you walking up to the car and getting in? Then you hop in put it in Drive and you get the little notification that you have to be in park to review videos that you have to dismiss, and then gear...
The generator I posted, and the Honda generator being talked about are inverter generators, aka true pure sine wave with very low THD and suitable for electronics. It's also why they cost quite a bit more than a standard generator...
