I wish every ICE owner that condemns an EV, especially a Rivian would just spend 10 minutes at the wheel. Gotta believe we would have a lot of converts.
Agree. Very disappointed in availability of service information, diagnostic software, and parts. The vehicles are great but as stated still have suspension systems, braking components, relays/ fuses, and shafts and bearings. Some of us are qualified ( even on the hv side) to make these repairs...
My T does the same thing especially if I have washed it recently. It’s the parking brake/ brake hold system but not necessarily a problem. My Tesla will do this occasionally especially if I just washed it
While it’s sounds viable most likely require 8-10 solar panels, a charge controller and an inverter to obtain 20 amps 120 vac power. A lot of components but if you had a cabin out in the sticks might be viable.
I am anticipating the Lidar hardware could be in all R2 vehicles with software to follow later in the year. Probably at an additional cost or on a subscription basis. Almost have to have all needed hardware on the initial R2’s or too many buyers may delay their purchases
I am hoping the manufacturing process will turn out near defect free vehicles. That’s how a manufacturer makes big money. Current service is a huge cost, and we should not need to take a vehicle back immediately after we receive it for items like body panel adjustments.
Agree I received the message a few months ago and I pushed the first service rep over the phone for a mobile install he said not possible. Knowing this is not an accurate response I spoke with two different service persons and convinced the last person that absolutely it can be done at my home...
Can’t find much more data and I agree tasks like starting with previously painted bodies is possible. They do stress they are using 95% automation production for speed and quality. Even though many of us don’t care for the CEO his antics, his ability to manufacture efficiently is pretty spectacular
Definitely less luxury than a Rivian but it’s a quality vehicle and it is profitable. There are millions on the road world wide so they are doing something right. And price is right at $50k.
No expert but when Tesla can fabricate a model Y in 2.5 hours start to finish seems we have a long away to go with production line efficiency for the R2 to be profitable. This would be data from Teslas most efficient manufacturing line. Their goal is a vehicle coming off the line every 30-40...
Agree this is the exact reason I did not change to a better battery chemistry in that if it caused a problem Rivian would either choose not to assist or possible be unable to assist as this could require substantial engineering involvement and a software update they are not interested in...
