Like @diehlryan, I also DIYed. My install is completely overkill being able to hold several hundred pounds without issue, but how can you not go overkill with fun projects? ?
I am of the opinion that there needs to be a larger compressor tank and more oomph in general since it takes forever to fill up tires after off-roading but I’m putting very little weight into this given the FB poster’s other comments.
…did you read the article? California’s $6M incentive requirements do not dictate the federal government’s $7B infrastructure requirements. Frankly, with how unreliable and awful card terminals have been at EA and EVgo stations I’ve visited, I don’t blame Tesla for leaving the $6M on the table...
Nice! Glad to hear of improved charging speeds—a nice improvement over the center console (which I agree, always felt a bit slow) to boot! Even more pleased I got my preorder in for one now.
Any plans to update the Printables MK4 files to the production-ready revision? Thanks!
Rob,
Nice work on the updated model. I'm excited to print it out and try it! Hope it'll show up on Printables soon. As for the optional kit, that seems very much not optional given how excellent it'll be to free up my cable-ridden center console. I'm definitely going to be purchasing that. Do...
Rats! Good luck with the sale—that's a great deal. Currently on the hunt for some wheels that don't cost an arm and a leg to put snow tires on, but no such luck. Buying used OEM is definitely going to be the move, but there sure aren't many up for sale yet!
Bummer to see Utah completely barren. I know it's dire everywhere, but Tesla's network in Utah is very good and EA's is quite poor with EVgo's being completely non-existent as well. It's easy with R1T/S to get to St. George from SLC, but heading back is a bit tricky in the winter and with the...
What size and what Y offsets did you try? If you only printed one size, try another Y offset in each direction to see if that helps on passenger side. The coils are 2-3mm shifted on that side.
I mean, sure. That’d work. So would a Lightning cable. But that’s ugly and inelegant. 3D printing a part like this takes less than 5 minutes of work and the results are quite excellent, it’s completely unnoticeable inside the cabin, and utilizes the wireless charging pad you already paid for...
Ease of use. I plug in when I need a lot of additional charge in a short period of time, but nothing beats tossing it on the pad and having it charge up. Requires zero effort or time.
The wireless charging pad in the Rivian R1T sucks. Part of the problem is its design. The forum's very own @Sonartech found the specs and internal photos used in certification filings that show an array of 15 small Qi coils stacked on three layers. Contrary to popular belief, more coils doesn't...
I observed a clunking noise as described, but I also started getting intermittent winding squeak going at low speeds. Observed at all suspensions heights. Would come and go away. My service center originally said it was normal behavior; however, I rejected that idea after it continued to...
I made a DIY lift since I wasn’t happy with any of the solutions available commercially (they either had crappy load ratings or were crazy $$$). Built my own for about $250 that’ll handle 500 lbs easily. I’m mostly limited by my hoist being mounted to vertical studs that aren’t really rated for...
Probably a good move. If you click "Visualize an R1x" it takes you to the old configurator, but not without a big 'ol disclosure that the prices seen currently might not be current when it comes to your order time.
