LOL. ... yea, it's like the "free RAN access" they gave us early Gen 1 buyers when RAN's were few and far between. Closest one is still about 30 miles from me!
As a Lucid Air owner, I'm definitely waiting to see the capabilities of UX 3.0 (based on what they have in the Gravity and planned for Earth) and let any bugs be worked out before I decide to plunk down $950 for the CCCV2 upgrade. As a Gen 1 R1S owner, I'd love an upgrade, but the differences...
If this is the case, then Gen 1 capability would beat non-paid Autonomy+ as it has auto steer + lane centering (on mapped freeways with hands on) and adaptive cruise control included. Seems foolish of Rivian to derate Gen 2 to LESS than Gen 1 capability.
I have Solar and Powerwalls and as long as there's sun, I should be OK, but agree if there was ever a very prolonged outage, this is a great idea vs keeping the garage door to the house open!
I recall that Rivian is committing you allowing consumers to purchase the 12V batteries and service themselves. They will most likely still be stupidly expensive.
Mine still wakes up 1 to 2 times a day for about 2.5~3 hrs with the tender attached losing about 0.8 - 1% battery a day. Maybe 1 to 2 times a month it will wake and stay awake for 5-8 hrs. I've calculated I waste about 400 kWH per year due to the wasted battery drain.
Honestly, other than Connect+ subscription fees, I don't know what data/revenue Rivian is losing by having users utilize CP. They already have access to your location at all times. Not sure what data they are currently monitizing, I'd expect that they don't get a rev share on any of the audio...
Totally sucks. I'd say it's either rodents chomping on wires (this will be an insurance claim and will most likely be expensive), bad 12V or HV batteries (warranty). Let us know the outcome. Good luck!
I bookmarked this thread in case I ever needed to install my front plate:

Thanks for the quick reply. I believe I saw a post that you are located in OC. Any option for local pickup? Also, the shop link on your site is broken and not loading.
You should remove the Comma unit from the vehicle before selling it to Carvana and sell it here! ... you will get no credit for its inclusion. Good luck at your new digs.
