And he also told me the exact opposite. Haha. Granted, Kyle was in group 2, so maybe there was a change in direction. Wassym has confirmed on Reddit that blind spot is coming to V1.
Rivian invited me out to Seattle last week to check out the refreshed R1T and R1S flagships. There’s going to be a lot of great content out today, but I wanted to talk to you as someone who has owned and daily driven both an R1T and R1S for the last two years. Owner to owner—or potential owner...
I laughed when I saw people suggesting they’d merely added the YouTube video to the car as a feature because that would be absurd.
And yet that’s what they did. How about streaming service apps in addition to the single video? Haha
There are a variety of circumstances when the quantity of regen is limited on an electric car due to a number of factors—inverter temperature, state of charge, etc. Because one-pedal driving utilizes a single-pedal, it's often disorienting for a deceleration rate to be different from what is...
Here it is, folks. Right from the source. I asked Rivian PR for comment and this is their response as if Wassym’s remark on Reddit wasn’t sufficient.
TL;DR, all Dual Motor vehicles will be getting the gauge screen.
This is a reasonable explanation. Nobody is going to go to the effort to perfectly knock-off the Rivian mobile charger of all the options out there. As for “not passing QC,” this is really not a concern. EVSEs are stupid simple. They’re basically an extension cord with a relay. There’s virtually...
Yikes. Rivian deducted $800 from my trade-in value on my R1T last month when I moved to the R1S if I wanted to keep the spare. I did (despite tire wear) because I wanted one for off-roading this summer, but now I'm glad I did cause that price ?
Due to the low seat positioning, I find the R1S much less comfortable than the R1T when seated in the second row as a 6’4” adult. Much more of my weight is supported by my butt rather than my thighs since the seat is low and my knees are high. Additionally, the R1T rear seats are more plush than...
My 76XX got shipped to Florida instead of Utah and then got damaged in shipping and today was supposed to be the "latest I'd receive an update" and I've received no update. So basically my brand-new car is old at this point and I still don't have it.
Also got a Launch Edition R1S (in LG!) on my Adventure Edition preorder. Saved me on wheels and OC interior which was great and got the underbody shield I wanted with the spare. Good deal!
Perhaps more surprisingly, Rivian offered me $73,427 on my R1T trade-in that's a year-old and has 11K...
Been considering trading my R1T for an R1S I'm scheduled to take delivery on next month, but maybe I should keep my truck—Meridian sound system, wood trim everywhere, 12V power in frunk and cabin, and a tonneau that still works after a year. A unicorn!
I don’t think I’ve seen this mentioned yet, but Rivian is beginning to install DCFC stalls at their service centers. It’s been happening for a few months now and not uncommon knowledge. This in and of itself—while cool—isn’t really notable. It makes sense that they’d want to top off vehicles...
48A OpenEVSE I installed myself. Unit is small, software is great, hardware is open source and completely repairable from a component level, and the cable is excellent. So flexible and never tangles.
There are several induction cooktops for camping that work great. Dual burners and you push up against the inverter’s limitations. Power usage is rather negligible. 1.3kWh (less than 1%) per 1 hour of cooking use at max heat. Buy induction if you’re plugging into the truck tho.
I don’t know about you, but “We are temporarily pausing production of the Camp Kitchen as we work to update its design” and “we’ve made the decision to halt production of the current versions of the built-in Camp Kitchen and Gear Tunnel Shuttle” seem a lot different to me. Especially considering...
For those that didn’t click through to the link, that was Rivian’s response to Electrek’s request for comment. Sounds like “future” means distant future.
It’s a cooktop and a bunch of plastic on a metal sled. I know their volume on these would be super low, I just don’t understand why it is...
