Several of your questions I can't answer, but I'll have a go at the ones that I can:
1. My wife and I have had 8 Teslas, including 2 Model S; I have had a quad-motor R1S for over a year. She currently has a Model X. She wants to stick with her X; partly for the Falcon-wing doors that make it...
I did Seattle to San Diego in an EV in 2010, doing about 400 miles per day, before there was any DC charging. I have no regrets, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend that to everyone.
Now that there's as much DC charging as there is? I've done about 40k miles of EV road trips using that...
I'd echo iansriv's comments. While there hasn't been major damage, the cars I've gotten on open carriers looked awful. But closed carriers have been fine.
Any ride quality question is likely to get answers all over the map, given that it depends on (among other things): R1S vs R1T, which wheels, which tires, which software version, how loaded the vehicle is, alignment, suspension height and ride settings, pavement type and maintenance, driving...
Any interest in racing in the sand?
There's a sand drag race in Moses Lake on Saturday. Free to participate or observe. I know there will be at least one Ford Lightning, at least one Cyberbeast, and at least one custom electric sand buggy. It sure would be nice if at least one Rivian shows up...

How many bikes do you plan to carry?
I second the Quikr option (quikrstuff.com) that Flush mentioned. I posted some pictures and info on it HERE (post #7); and there's more in this thread we're in (posts 4 and 12, at least). It's great stuff...but really pricey. There are three more posts with...
[EDIT: minor number updates to reflect a new trip on June 7 2024]
We have now taken 6 trips towing the Safari Condo A2124 totaling over 950 miles. Generally cruise is set at 60mph on freeways, though typically a lot of backroads are involved too. We don't take it when temperatures are near...
We just took a fifth trip. This one was 180 miles under similar conditions to above (a few degrees warmer, a little more traffic), and similar results: 1.5 mi/kWh. The Rivian says our expected towing range at 100% charge is 194 miles.
Unfortunately break-even times can vary a LOT. There are many dependencies so it can be tough to calculate.
For a system I installed in 2014 (which was in addition to a system that was put on the house when it was built in 2013) my break-even time was 7 years. That time was enough to totally...
Earlier in the thread I noted my test results: 7% improvement at 71mph. I worked hard on the test and it seemed like pretty legit data, but most others aren't seeing that much improvement (if any at all).
I had mentioned a couple of things that might contribute to my results being different...
Thanks, Dave. I updated my post above to use the 132kWh figure.
Thanks for the OoSR numbers too. They are pretty close to what Branden reported a year and a half ago in THIS thread. He reported 15% loss at 70mph, and 24% at 80mph. I expect the losses to be even higher when you are towing.
As...
And we just took a fourth trip towing the Safari Condo Alto A2124. The car seems to show fewer details about energy use; maybe I need to dig more...but we did a 152.7 mile round-trip that used 74% of the battery. The R1S claims 1.5 mi/kWh.
Sanity checks: Usable battery (large pack) is about...
I've had a 2023 R1S (quad, large pack) for 10 months. My wife has had a 2023 X for 4 months; before that she had a 2017 X for 6 years. Despite the X being my wife's car, I've been driving it quite a bit lately (the carseats for the grandkids are in her car).
The OP's take on the two vehicles...
If you wash your car often, and want something sparkly/shiny/glossy, this color may not be for you.
But if you think big vehicles don't have to be shiny (putty-like colors seem to be more common these days), go off-road a lot, or you don't wash your vehicle often, this could be a good color.
I...
They are discussed HERE. I have seen good results with them (detailed HERE), but not everyone has.
I don't have stock tires, and I'm in an R1S rather than an R1T...who knows why the results vary so much.
Yup. I got the Ecoflows mostly as a whole-house backup in case of outages. They sit next to the R1S, so I can charge them from the car while they power the house. When the car gets low, I can take it to a charging station. Heck, I can take the Ecoflows with me and charge them from a charging...
I know, it's an old thread. Plus, it will only matter to a very tiny number. But...
Like the OP, I didn't get my Ecoflow Delta Pro batteries to charge my Rivian. But it can be done. I've got two Delta Pros, each mated to two additional battery packs. So a total of just over 20kWh.
The OP did...
The Roadster was an absolute blast. I had one as my daily driver for 7 years.
Sure, utility-wise it sucked. 3" screen, no DC charging, 2 seats, tiny trunk, maybe 220 miles of range under the current rating system. Almost no cabin storage, lousy stereo but it didn't matter because it was so...
