  1. R2 under cover in Laguna!

That photo was not taken this morning. Sun is high in the sky. Look at the shadows of the Rivian logo on the tower and under the car. That was snapped near midday.
  2. 3 years of waiting and finally my first demo drive.

You're going from a car to a full size SUV/Truck style of vehicle. Two completely different vehicles and driving dynamics. As someone who has driven large SUV's for 25 years, the R1T is one of the most comfortable vehicles in class. (I've also had two Porsche's, so I'm comparing to a variety of...
  3. Cracked windshield, with a 3 month wait time

We had a rock break our windshield back in November. Rivian gave us an appt about 10 weeks out, but recommended we reach out to a Rivian-certified body shop. Which we did. The shop was able to order an OEM windshield and get us in about two weeks later. They had the truck for a week. One day for...
  4. Rivian R2 pricing & production should qualify for $7500 tax credit

Oh I agree. We used to have this issue with our last Porsche as well.
  5. Rivian R2 pricing & production should qualify for $7500 tax credit

I completely agree. Rivian will get there. I think the key is better capacity before the the R2 deliveries.
  6. Rivian R2 pricing & production should qualify for $7500 tax credit

Do you own an R1 and have you had to try and get it serviced? I’m in the DC area. Yes, our service center is new and opened last year. It still takes 3mo to get an appointment. I’m not saying Tesla is any better, but they have (4) service centers in the DC metro. Car owners who are used to just...
  7. Over 300 RITs available under shop available in the Bay area

Pick another major brand, look at all of their dealers in the Bay Area and count up their inventory. I bet it’s much more vehicles, and those are sitting at dealers. A big dealer in a large market is selling 100 vehicles a week. We have the second largest Jeep dealer in the nation in the DC...
  8. Rivian R2 pricing & production should qualify for $7500 tax credit

Yes. And Rivian needs more service centers or new R2 customers will get frustrated more quickly than the R1 early adopters. It will be interesting to see how they scale to meet the mass market.
  9. R2 Product Launch at Laguna Beach on March 7th!

From a news (press) cycle standpoint launches work well on Tuesday's and Thursdays. Never the first day of the week. Friday is where you bury a story.
  10. Cybertruck Towing report from JerryRigEverything

Kyle kinda said the same thing about his Rivian.
  11. Rivian BREAK IN caught on gear guard camera video

Always check with your agent/broker, but that should not be a rate-impacting claim.
  12. R1 Bunnies

We see several a week in Alexandria, VA & Fairfax County. We are definitely starting to see more R1S. We were in Napa twice in the second half of last year and saw about a dozen Rivians on each trip, including Amazon vans on delivery routes.
  13. Hertz to sell 1/3 of its EV fleet

As someone who rents from Hertz and National several times a month for business travel Hertz has made renting EV's confusing and often times annoying. When they first got Tesla's the pitch was you can bring it back at any charge level, they'll take care of the recharge. If I'm traveling and I...
  14. New SC coming to Fairfax???

I saw that on the master thread, but I haven’t seen anything near official that indicates they’re building one. It isn’t listed as in development on Rivian’s website. I think it will be a while before they build any actually in or near the beltway. But we can always hope. I’d also prefer...
  15. New SC coming to Fairfax???

They'll put in Tysons over Springfield to appeal to the higher wealth demographic. Tesla has both Tysons and Arlington (Glebe and 395) as well as their DC showroom. Rivian will eventually open Tysons. I haven't seen anything related to RAN locations in the DC metro. Where are you seeing that...
  16. Ultimate RAN Stations Thread List (Wiki) -- locations, reviews, quirks, tips, etc.

Where is there information regarding the permitting/planning for the Virginia RAN locations in Springfield and Tysons? I haven't seen anything related to RAN locations within the DC metro. Rivian's website shows a RAN coming to Fredericksburg, VA near I-95...
  17. Challenging PR for R1T (rear window replacement cost)

We had a rock hit our windshield and create a large crack. At Rivian's recommendation we went to a nearby, Rivian certified, collision center. They could get us in quickly, Rivian had a two month wait. It took the shop 7 days to get the windshield (OEM from Rivian). When they got it they called...
  18. Touring east coast RAN locations

They focused the RAN up and down I-81 in Virginia. EA has plentiful, and in our experience, reliable chargers up and down 95 from DC to South Carolina. I do agree it would be nice to eventually see some more RAN locations on 95.
  19. How does Rivian address delivery paint chips?

So we had a paint issue on the edge of our hood. We were picking up at the factory last year. Since we were going to have our truck wrapped with PPF they gave us a paint pen and we had our PPF shop do a small paint repair before they wrapped. Since we edge wrapped the PPF it completely covered...
