Using a 3-prong to 2-prong adapter removed ground from the equation, and sure enough it makes a difference - my Rivian no longer shuts off its AC outlets when I try to charge my Ecoflows. But that doesn't help me, because the Ecoflows still won't take 120V AC input while doing 240V AC output (It...
Thanks for the input, gang. Our house was not drawing very much power last night, so I suspect the grounding issue is most likely the problem (for me, right now, anyway). I will look into the adapters.
But until then I will just use the Ecoflows to power the house during the day, and at night...
I bought some Ecoflow Delta Pros (not Ultra) about a year ago for the same reason. I have in the past charged the Delta Pros from the Rivian, but not while the Ecoflows were powering the house. There is a physical switch on each Ecoflow that says to take 800W of power instead of 1500W, and I...
We have been taking very few bike trips since we got grandkids...so our Quikr rack hasn't seen much duty since I posted those photos. But so far the rack still works great, and there has been no damage that I've noticed to the R1S - the rack is quite solid and doesn't wiggle around, so I don't...
Curious.
My first thought was that the original route might have more elevation changes, higher speeds, more expected wind or something that would make it use more energy despite being shorter. But the fact that your expected arrival SOC was lower for the alternate route makes that seem...
I traded my Model Y Performance for a Rivian R1S sixteen months ago. I made the trade mostly to get a better tow vehicle for our trailer. Rivian took the Y as a trade-in and gave me a great valuation for it (at the time; I am not so sure they'd offer as much now).
I like the Rivian. In addition...
That's me. I put the cover on twice, then decided it wasn't worth the trouble so I just leave it off.
I got an inexpensive hitch cover from Amazon and my life is easier.
This sort of thing bugged me too when we both sold our gas cars and switched to EVs 15 years ago, but has never been a problem and I pretty much ignore it now. The only thing I do is turn off climate control if I'm going to have a door open for a while.
I have the KAC rack I mentioned above specifically because it works on bikes with fenders.
I can make the Quikr rack work pretty well too; I just need to put a rag between the fender and the rack.
I got my son started a 40V Ryobi system - two 4Ah batteries, a string trimmer and pole hedge trimmer. The mower is a fairly basic one, 21" and not self-propelled. But it's more than enough - it can easily do his grass (about 1/2 acre?) and always has enough power for the task. I am not sure...
If you need the full charge (or it's far more convenient because of an unusual charging situation), don't worry about it - charge away.
If you don't need it, it's probably not a huge deal either way...but if it's not a large burden to me I try to treat things nicely, especially if somebody else...
I don't have a high-quality data source, or the best ears. But these settings are clearly an improvement! Things sound reasonable at both high and low volumes. Thank you; sake sent.
I still prefer the sound system in my wife's Model X as I feel the bass more there. But it's not a huge...
I got a yellow set from AO long ago. Great company and customer service. But after a week a kid stole one, so I just took the other one off and forgot about it for a while.
Later I joined the Amazon Vine program (basically they give you free stuff in exchange for reviewing it; you also have to...
Yup. This photo shows the two Ecoflow control units joined together - each can put out 30A @ 120V, but together they can put out 30A @ 240V. Behind them (not in the photo) are 4 more battery units.
The original generator inlet was outside to accommodate a gas generator; but I had an electrician...
I've done it with Ecoflows - a few months ago we had a ~9-hour power outage; I plugged the Ecoflows in to the generator inlet (240V 30A) and ran the house off of them. Then I plugged the Ecoflows in to the Rivian's 120V outlet to charge.
(IMPORTANT NOTE from a few months later: 9 hours wasn't...
Yeah, thanks OP, this sort of comparison is often requested.
I also have both. I've had my 2023 R1S for over a year, and my wife currently has a 2023 X - after having a 2017 X for 6 years (we've had several other Teslas as well). My take on the differences is pretty similar the OP's, especially...
Sorry, that may be confusing...my R1S is Gen 1, so I was comparing a Gen 1 Large (131 usable) to a Gen 1 Max (141 usable). The difference between the two is much larger in Gen 2 - however, that is almost entirely because they shrank the size of the Large pack. The new Max only gained 0.5 kWh...
Correct. I believe the Max Pack has about 10 more kWh usable (which is kind of disappointing given the price). The range ratings make it look like more than that, but I think they use different adjustment figures for the various packs to make the Max Pack look better.
After towing a few times...
Hi EVTowing (nice to see you on these forums too),
Similar story here. We have owned all the Teslas, and my wife still has an X. We tow a Safari Condo Alto A2124 (different model than yours, but on the old forums we used to get pretty similar towing efficiency numbers IIRC). We used to tow it...
