I can't shake the feeling that this isn't a good time based on where Rivian is with Membership, RAN Charging costs, and LTE connectivity. Seems like they're expecting us to confirm and take delivery at a time when all the freebies are leaving, with no assurances for at least a few years of...
Depends on when in 2023. There was change on Apr 18th that cut it to $3750.

So instead of amending to get the $7500 on the 2022 tax return, you'll instead try to meet all the requirements for March 2023, which I believe is
Vehicle under 80k.
Income under 150/300/???
I assume you were also pre price increase pricing since I don't think there's a under 80k R1S
RAN specifically. I don't think I'd leave the house to go get charged up at a Waypoint. Seems like SoCal, you'd have to go all the way out to San Bernardino. For Bay Area, I guess crossing over to Sausalito isn't too far...
Was there more planned before?
Yea, that extra 10k is not very enticing right now. I'm looking at DM Large on 21" just to see if I can get this 200 mile trip done on 1 go. I don't have concerns on the downhill trip, but the cold weather trip going up with gear on the roof is giving me pause. Stopping for 10 mins to boost the...
I was mentioning how the max pack technologies are not flowing downwards to the standard pack. Standard pack is the battery technology used in the EDV.
Have people been getting their delivery dates for the recently locked configurations? Roughly how long til they get a date?
Wonder if Rivian is just trying to get more people committed with the 1k before their next move.
They already have to do this because it's either its own value in the options list, or its the base case without extra checks. There's no way the differentiation ability isn't already in the software, whether it's Has "Dual Motor" or the default ELSE implementation if none of the other...
That's exactly what DM is doing vs the DM Performance. If it was software related to "Performance" and not something like "Adventure" trim, then it makes sense. This feature did not make sense to put behind that differentiator.
DM buyers know they wont get improvements if its Performance...
Max battery tech won't trickle down since its the older battery tech. The new ones are a different type and is being used in EDVs right now, and possibly onto the standard pack.
Anyways,
Aug 2022 tax credit deadline week reservation, and got configuration access last week. Configuration email...
Anyone know when the deadline would be to file a 2022 amended return? I want to wait this out as long as possible but still take advantage of the $7500.
Also, is it still possible for IRS to change the rules for the 2022 amended returns or cancel that part altogether?
The liability is so small, I doubt they care. Assuming they have 3 years (LOL) of backlog orders, and the current production rate... that's at most 200k...
Would a small increase be made up over the savings gained in DMV reg and Insurance since the model is officially "Dual Motor non-performance" ? Or do you need to register a change in value to both DMV and insurance companies if something like this is added?
