The plan is to put up a hosted private forum for the project where I can show some examples of products and projects I have done previously and people interested in the cooler and/or water tank can give feedback on the designs, color options etc.. There will also be a signup list for people...
I really appreciate your kind offer =)
We are essentially at the point where moving forward would start costing me "real" money. By that I mean the designs for the cooler and water tank are mature enough that we can have meaningful discussions with our reservation holders or "launch Group" for...
We have hit a small snag getting word about this project out on social media--specifically the Rivian SubReddit. I have never used Reddit, (and to be candid know almost nothing about it) so I asked my adult Son to make a Reddit post similar to the original post on this forum, which he did...
I previously posted that one of the most important design goals was to have every component in the cooler possible be "off the shelf" and easily sourced if there were ever a need to replace something. Right to repair IOW.
I forgot to mention that that includes the gasket for the lid which is...
Thanks for sharing your experience. It might be more accurate to say there is no need to keep it running constantly at 0 (zero) F then. Maybe even more prudent to mention using common sense "best practices" for using coolers--ice or powered. Don't fill it with room temperature items--if at...
Yes I watched it--I worked with Sue Smith from Munro for the digital design assets used on this project and I am a big fan of their work. I am also aware that the frunk can get warm.
There are several key differences between using a super insulated air tight cooler and just filling the...
There are also several Rivian owners that have been running electric coolers in the frunk without issue:

Just a quick update on how we may be handling reservations.
We are currently looking at different hosted private forum options with the thinking being we could have anyone interested in a cooler, water tank, or both register. Then I can interact with you guys about design suggestions and post...
The most common solution for cold weather camping would be 12V "tank tape" or 12V silicone tank pads.
I have left enough space for a thin insulation layer around the tank--IOW if you are going to be camping in cold weather place a wool blanket, sleeping bag, or similar into the frunk first...
Thanks for your interest and your post =)
Just in case you missed it, I went into more detail on the water tank in the post linked below:

An ice only version would not be hard to do at all...I don't think there would be enough people interested to warrant a production run but I could be wrong. Either way, if there is enough interest I am happy to do an ice only version also.
Yes on products. No website for this project yet as we are just looking to see how much interest there is.
If we get to 200 - 300 or so interest people what I would like to do is create a private forum group for the project. I can post a few of the products and projects I have worked on...
Several people have asked how filling and sprayer use would work for the 12 gallon water tank. I will try to explain it with some images below.
As a side note, several people in the forums pointed out that having the fill ports and sprayer on the passenger side would make more sense--it...
That is certainly an interesting and outside the box idea.
I think it is probably overkill tho as it presents more potential issues without adding any real improvement. Water is not compressible the way air is so you would need an additional air reservoir above and beyond the water tanks...
A full water tank would be just over 100 lbs or 45 kg. That is not too heavy for the truck but obviously too heavy for most people, (myself included) to load in and out of the truck.
With that in mind the tank is designed for easy filling via two included tank-side fill hoses and a near...
I believe I used the correct link. The thread is titled: Vehicle fridge temperature impact in Frunk
He does also discuss running his cooler in the gear tunnel.
