I wouldn’t be surprised if Sport wasn’t far off from All Purpose mode, at least how the EPA tests it.
One related problem: Rivian can’t tell me how many miles the spare is good for. I’ve used it (which is itself a long and painful story) and now don’t know when I need to replace it. Maybe I should order one now in case I need it in 2026.
It’s reasonable if they allow hotspots with a large data allowance. Otherwise it’s too much for the low data rates the car will use. Streaming services will already pay Rivian for their data use.
But AM goes farther than FM. Much farther. So a lone operator could provide a lot of coverage in the zombie apocalypse scenario. But, who are we kidding, that’s probably a trap.
An R1T I drove this weekend pre-update still drove better than my R1S post-update. The R1T didn’t “hunch” a little on acceleration, but the R1S did. Perhaps it’s just the longer wheelbase. Much preferred the R1T experience.
I’m curious how the Polestar 3’s LiDAR shakes out in real world use. It may eliminate phantom braking and make for a killer ADAS. The car will also feature a HUD with turn by turn directions as well as Dolby Atmos. Lots of gadget options available on this one.
Typically new car manufacturers can’t find a lender willing to take the other side of the lease until there’s a history of resale data to reduce the risk. For a bank, leases are much riskier to offer than loans.
The statement that, “Rivian has intentionally held off on leasing because of its...
Absolutely this. Leasing allows you to hedge your risk. If a next generation battery hits the market two years from now, or the Rivian battery turns out to decay faster than everyone thought, or develops a habit of spontaneously combusting, you could take a $10K loss on your Rivian’s resale...
It sounds like Rivian been reading these forums, as they’ve addressed some of my complaints with the older kit. Specifically, the lack of chocks and the somewhat rickety jack. Thank you, Rivian!
Here’s one example: all new Teslas move to a new “Elon ego” connector. No new superchargers are built using the old connector. Adapters are given only to existing Tesla owners. Existing contracts are upheld, but no new superchargers are ever built with the old plug. Non-Teslas are excluded from...
Normally, I don’t post these, as there are a ton of them and I don’t have much time. This one irked me more than usual, though.
This time, between Vantage, WA and Ellensburg, the nav. tried to route me off I-90 onto a small, rural road network for dozens of miles, and then did it once more...
I couldn’t agree more. I am, at this moment, trying to plot a rather complicated multi-waypoint trip. The waypoints matter, because otherwise Rivian’s charging sequence would leave me stranded in the wilderness without enough charge to get to the next leg. And I can’t. Even if I could, I...
Rivian should leverage existing dealerships, like Mercedes, BMW and Audi/VW. They already have the space and the techs. Rivian isn’t going to drown them in volume. It would be a win/win. As it stands, Rivian would prefer their customers have no service at all than luxury dealership service. It’s...
