I love this app. I use it with my Gen 1 all the time. I actually updated my Apple Watch Ultra recently and was worried I couldn't get it working again. It took 4-5 tries, but it finally showed up again as a Bluetooth Key. It's saved me in a few situations when my phone was dead.
Check out Base Power if it's available in your area. Gives you battery backup for relatively cheap. I was going to switch, but they are not able to do 2+ panel installs yet. They let you lock in for multiple years and rates were very competitive when I looked...
I have this same one and the glue holding the velcro pieces on to the end of the strap has melted in the hot Texas sun. Had to stitch new velcro on to the end of that strap. It's a pretty ridiculous that they glued those two little strips to the end, unless you are saying its different now.
Mine stuck like that at the service center once (gen 1), and the advisor pushed the crap out of it forward while holding the open button down. It opened right up. Not saying that is the solution, however.....
