Read an article about people needing to change tires fairly frequently on EVs.
What have all of you observed? I have the 21” road tires.
Here’s the article...
Unfortunately, I've been getting the "Motor Fault Detected" everyday. I have an appointment set for two weeks out. Meanwhile, Rivian has set me up with a rental car until they are able to bring me in. Will keep everyone posted on what the problem is.
Did you try to turn off proximity unlock/lock and just have it locked at home? See if that will shut it off. That will rule out that something is just keeping your truck awake and not going to sleep.
I originally had the Scosche OBII. But the issue is that it’s always on. So the unit will not turn off even if the car is off. The Garmin OBll solution has a 10 min setting where it shuts down after 10 minutes. The Fuse Tap solution turns off when the car goes to sleep.
Thanks! That’s pretty cool. I did not know about it. I tried it and there a few different backgrounds. One of them being black and this is what a couple looks like…
I can confirm that shutting it down by holding the button does not stop it from waking up. I was mistaken. My previous Ottocast device would stay shut down and I must have confused the two.
Maybe this can be updated through a firmware or just unplug the unit each time. That will definitely do it.
This device works like any other car that would have wireless CarPlay. The issue is how Rivian implemented the “no start/stop button” where it’s triggered by the phone proximity. It’s really not the fault of the device itself.
It’s a tradeoff I’m willing to make with the convenience it provides...
There is a brightness adjustment from 5% to 100%. There is also an auto-dim option that automatically dims based on a set time everyday. You can specify the %.
To be honest though, I haven’t noticed it being any different than my other cars with CarPlay. I don’t even think about it, just...
Agreed, however, this recommendation coming from the Rivian Diagnostics team, tells me, for one reason or another it doesn't behave/perform that way. To be safe, I'll do the recommended practice just in case I come back to an undrivable car and cause me the potential headache to have it towed...
I went away for about 5 days and didn't charge or drive the R1S. When I came home and tried to start the car, it gave me a Motor Fault Detected, unable to drive, and told me to call a tow truck.
I did a hard reset to try to get rid of the message by holding the left button on the steering...
Have you tried keeping your phone far away from the car lock it and wait like 10-20 minutes for the screen to shut off? It sometimes takes a few minutes for the car to go to sleep. Once it wakes up the screen will go on and will try to connect to your phone.
