Not sure what you are claiming is wrong about my post.
Because of the single gear, most EVs have to make some compromise between low end acceleration and higher end acceleration. Generally, they decide to sacrifice the high end that people rarely use.
They're also very good at putting power...
Plaid Model S is still very, very quick 60-130. About as quick as a McLaren 765LT. Quicker than a McLaren P1.
But generally, you're right. EVs tend to fall off as speeds increase relative to ICE... especially ones like the Mach E GT that falls on it's face around 80mph because output drops way...
Yeah, if you have a pre-March price on an R1T, it's a substantially better value than a Lightning, IMO... except the Lightning Pro that's just a bonkers value compared to the other Lightnings (and all other EVs, for that matter), but it's basically unobtanium, even worse than the already-rare XLT.
Tests have seen 170kW. It also has a relatively high average charge rate.
It's not Taycan-level, but it's pretty good.
Tests so far indicate that's not an issue for the Lightning... at least nowhere near the extent of the Mach E GT, which is definitely unacceptable, IMO, for a "Performance"...
Yeah, I wouldn't buy another '14-'16 i3 with the plastic mount. Probably avoid the carbon roof, too, even though I love it, to avoid the delamination issues. I'd love to pick up an i3s for a commuter. Maybe after prices come back down.
We can agree on that. Had 3 different ones. Wish I still had one, but Carvana made us an offer we couldn't refuse when I was WFH, and the plastic motor support was creaking occasionally and BMW wouldn't replace it with the aluminum one.
Demonstrably false.
I joined this forum (6/7) BEFORE this thread even existed (6/9).
AND I didn't post in this thread until it had been going for 3 days.
AND I have 15 posts and only the most recent 3 are in this thread.
You are either just straight-up lying or you're making false...
When I think "immune to bias", my first thought is super-early adopters of an expensive lifestyle vehicle.
There are great people on here, and certainly some with great info and seemingly minimal bias, but you're only guessing what level of bias Kyle has and somehow discounting the likely bias...
OK, but he was up front about it, so it certainly introduces some variables, but there's no reason to think it was dishonest (not saying you're suggesting that, either).
He was also doing it live, I believe. So, people who were watching it live would probably prefer he finish, anyway, knowing...
Even if you don't value someone's subjective opinions about driving dynamics or things that are hard to objectively measure (which goes for 99% of reviewers, for me, since so much is based on personal preference), Kyle is one of relatively few providing very good *objective* data like charge...
As someone else said, the Pro SR is theoretically available to retail buyers. The wait list is probably several years long, but retail buyers will be getting Pros.
As far as the Extended Range battery, the cheapest Lightning with the Extended Range battery is $10k more than that. It's ~$73k...
He hasn’t been invited to place an order. He just has a reservation.
So, the dealer *might* tell him where he is in *their* line, but it’s of minimal value, and some dealers won’t even share that info… especially if they let a bunch of people cut to the front of the line and don’t want people...
i agree that’s probably what they’re doing and that it’s sketchy. Unfortunately, it’s pretty much standard operating procedure when supply is so limited. Tesla let lots of people jump the “line” if they were willing to buy more expensive Model 3/Y trims. Ford is building a minuscule number of...
He hasn't been invited to order. Despite a first day order (unlike the guy that got the first one, and many other people who have ordered or received their trucks).
And people who have ordered have been unable to pick the models they want and had to postpone... with no information on what might...
Exactly. No surprise that the people who won the Lightning lottery and/or the dealer allowed to cut to the front of the line think it's a great system.
The people, like you, that have reservations thousands or tens of thousands of people ahead of even the guy who received the very first...
Ford certainly isn't anywhere near perfect at communication or ensuring "fairness" of delivery order, either.
They added a way for dealers to allow people to cut the reservation line at the last minute.
They ignored demand and their own hype around the Lightning Pro and built just a few...
I mean, unless you have an actual order in with a dealer, you could say the same thing in the other direction : Some can't hold out any longer for Ford's constantly moving goal post delivery lottery system.
Tons of people were allowed to skip to the front of the reservation line.
Ford only...
I was offered a Lightning Lariat order a few months ago. I keep thinking I probably should have done this... but I'm hoping I get a MY2023 Pro instead. But we'll see how Ford handles MY2023. They let a bunch of people cut to the front of the line and buy up all the Pros for MY2022, so it was...
