The only thing I've ever seen is a guy idling in an EV spot while eating his dinner from the drive through. I'm pretty sure it was him being oblivious instead of malicious.
It was one of four chargers (which were all empty), so I charged just fine.
Thank you for contributing!
I've always believed these types of individual write-in campaigns have a decent probability of success.
Most people know who their Congressperson and Senators are.
How many people even know who their state reps are, much less write to them? How many people write...
Their email addresses are listed directly on that page. I never found a centralized inbox.
I wrote to them as a group, but maybe sending to them as individuals would have more impact?
I will pay more as well, but up to a point.
If I have access to Tesla membership pricing at ~$0.35/kWh and Rivian is charging me ~$0.55 across the street, I'm going to the Tesla station.
I expect they will ramp up openings as we get closer to the R2 launch.
The current footprint works for a company selling 40k cars per year, but will be insufficient for a company selling 200k cars per year.
I hadn’t even noticed this.
My biggest gripe is that the Bluetooth player is restricted to whatever filter was last used on my phone. If I was listening to a specific artist on my phone, the Rivian will ONLY play music from that artist. If I was listening to a podcast, the Rivian will ONLY play...
Looking out 5 years, Rivian's future is bright as long as the R2 and R3 sell well. That's a bigger "if" than some people think, but it's not hard to see that path.
Also looking 5 years out, the US auto industry is going to be increasingly irrelevant. The auto industry is a global industry...
Don't overthink it for the quarter-by-quarter stuff.
The stuff that actually matters for 2025:
1. Reiterate (or close to it) production & delivery guidance for the full year. Quarterly ups and downs down matter much as long as the full year is within guidance.
2. Give a not-disastrous view on...
The big EV networks do this.

I wasn't able to find anything on Chargepoint, but their business model is different. Tesla has claimed they will/are doing this, but in typical Tesla fashion, it is...
I'm not a lawyer, but I expect it has to do with Tesla's carve out for direct sales in Ohio.
I don't think there's anything fundamentally illegal/unconstitutional about a state banning direct sales. As much as we dislike the laws, it's not outside the powers of a state.
When the state starts...
I've never had a great bluetooth experience, and maybe that's not the right technology. I don't know the technical side well enough to have much of an opinion.
I did have a good experience (for the era) of plugging my phone into my 2014 Mazda. It was a USB cable, but I could view albums...
The ability to play music I own without having to go through these damn streaming services.
The current implementation of the bluetooth player sucks donkey balls.
Mine has been consistently close-ish. I'll sometimes compare it to the elevation markers when going over a high pass. It can be off by a couple-hundred feet.
My first time over Vail pass set an altitude record, and my second time over was higher by something like 200ft.
While I don't know...
I'm just seeing this thread a few weeks later.
My biggest budget tip is to BORROW the gear you need for your first few trips. Most of your friends probably have basements half-full of camping gear that almost never gets used.
There's a nearly endless supply of camping gear you can buy at all...
I had a timely discussion yesterday that is semi-relevant.
The more I think about it, the more I realize how important it is for all EV networks to be open to everyone.
I brought my R1T to the Lafayette Cars & Coffee yesterday, and as usual, most questions about the Rivian came down to...
What annoys me about these proposals is layers of complexity for relatively minor differences.
If there's some type of tiered structure, it should be designed to influence behavior. Sure, some people drive more than others, and get incrementally more benefit from the roads. But do we really...
Discount Tire in Denver has done right by me.
I feel confident in any Discount Tire that is close to where LOTS of Rivian's live. The individual tech's have all worked on them.
I'd be slightly cautious if I was in the middle of nowhere and this was the first Rivian the shop had seen.
