  1. Range question for gen 1 2024 R1S quad

I had a 22 R1T for three years and used auto ride height the entire time. My 21-inch road wheels lasted for 41,000 miles. I think using conserve mode is harder on the tires than auto ride height. I was very careful to only use conserve after I was up to speed on a highway or interstate...
  2. R2 TRI-MOTOR

A Quad R2 with a 2.5 0-60 time or better. 400 miles of range. Faster charging. 70-75,000 cost I would definitely be interested.
  3. When will R1 get Gen 3 hardware?

Someone that works for Rivian said the 3rd gen R1s may have an option for retractable running boards.
  4. 2025 New Trimotor on lot in Milpitas - How? Why?

I thought we got one of the last 2025 Tri R1T in January. Not to rub salt in your deal but we got the free all terrain upgrade so 20-inch ATs and underbody added on for free. It also had 0% financing. We had a deal on one and it disappeared from the shop, so I gave up and then a week later...
  5. More R2 models coming and R2X possible says RJ Scaringe (Reuters News)

R2 Quad with 400 plus range. That would get my attention.
  6. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

Thanks for the info. We will check it out.
  7. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

That's awesome! We are thinking of either getting a R2 tri or a Gen3 R1S. Any other recommendations of medium to difficult roads around Moab area that are scenic but not too technical?
  8. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

Thanks for the info. That is one of the roads we were thinking of doing.
  9. Trip Report: Minnesota to Utah & AZ National Monuments

Thanks for the write up and pictures. We are from MN too and plan to go to Moab area this fall. It did not look like you had rock sliders in the pictures. Can you do most medium trails without worrying about scratching the truck. I have a new 2025 TRi and would prefer not to scratch it up.
  10. R1T Gen 1 to Gen 2 Questions

You probably know this but it is a subscription model for the enhanced cruise. They charge 2500 one time or 50 a month. It does work well in our area. We have a lot of rural highway so sometimes it is nice to just let the truck drive itself.
  11. R1T Gen 1 to Gen 2 Questions

We just got a new tri a couple months ago. For the eyes on the road senser I think it is less aggressive then Gen1 was with hands on the wheel. For the wipers I asked my wife and she thinks it is the same. I do not listen to the radio except during football season if the Vikings are playing...
  12. New Rivian Space Opening in the Twin Cities

We were at the new space last Friday and they were not open yet, but I could peek thru the door. We thought we would check it out on the off chance they opened early. I think today is when they were scheduled to open. Be interesting to see how busy they are. Nice to see a space in MN.
  13. Don’t buy a Rivian and why?

I know all service centers are not equal in how they take care of their customers. But I just had our new Tri in for some issues all covered under warranty. They gave us a rental and every couple days we received an update thru the app or a phone call. When I had a question, they responded...
  14. How is the St. Paul/Minneapolis Area Service Center?

I agree with Budman. I have also had three years of experience with that service center. They have always been great to deal with. I live about 150 miles from the service center so they usually try to get me in and out in the same day. I just traded in for a 2025 Tri and there were a couple...
  15. Gen2 Low Coolant issue - leaking Degas bottle

I recently upgraded to a 2025 R1T. I got it in January and have been getting that error every so often. At times I drive and do not see it at all other times it comes on when I am just leaving to back home. Usually, it is followed by Thermal fault error. Sometimes it goes off after a little...
  16. Countering cold, winter weather effects for those living in the northern states.

I live in MN and if you have -20 and 25 - 30 mile an hour wind you may see 50% range loss. Other times around 0 and sunny with no wind and starting warm it is more like 20% or so. There is a graph that has been posted numerous times in this forum of someone who makes a regular 160 mile trip in...
  17. What do you think of these 10-year real-world cost comparisons?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, after a little research it appears like the Raptor R is better off road. I think the Rivian is better on road. The quad is the fastest 0 to 60 of any pickup if speed is important to you. I prefer the quiet of the Rivian where some like the engine sound of an ICE truck.
  18. What do you think of these 10-year real-world cost comparisons?

Why would you prefer the Raptor R over a new Quad R1T? I am curious as I have not sat in a Raptor R. Size? Comfort? I am not being critical I genuinely want to know as the Rivian is quicker and would seem to have more off road chops with a little more clearance. I am no expert on off road...
  19. What do you think of these 10-year real-world cost comparisons?

A Ford Raptor R is somewhat comparable to a quad R1T for price. The Rivian is quicker by a full second in 0-60 has a little more ground clearance I believe in offroad mode. The Ford gets 12 miles to a gallon so after 50,000 miles that is $12,500 at $3 a gallon. I pay 12 cents a KW for...
  20. What do you think of these 10-year real-world cost comparisons?

A couple comparisons missed in this exercise is 0-60 times. Fun factor of ability to off road in the Rivian. Confidence level in a snowstorm or heavy rainstorm driving a Rivian or an Escape. The comfort of the ride. Having a truck verses sorta suv. The many drive modes and ride heights...
