This is to get UL listing otherwise you can't install anything. It's not just limited to EVSE either, this is across the board in the US if you plug something in the circuits are sized 20% over the max draw of the device.
Which is why extension cords and outlet adapters get us into trouble a...
i was able to finish the first video this morning as I'd started it yesterday and got sidetracked with that pesky thing called 'working'. but yeah they're gone now. The text is all still there with even more detail though, so dunno.
Looked awesome though, I'm starting to be like the randy...
i've wanted huds since they were offered in Pontiac Grand Prix back in the 90s :)
One day i hope to have a car that has them, but at the moment it looks like I'm leaning to the R1S at the moment instead of a Q4 Etron. Though the lack of carplay has me waffling every day.
If the Model X is any indication Tesla has a lot of work to do on towing if they have a magic sauce. TFL did some tests and it was doing 900 wh/mi compared to about 320wh/mi without a trailer. That was with a small trailer too.
Though I'd argue they may have been going to fast. It's been a...
So you will inevitably get some battery degradation. However, with you mostly doing L2 charging it won't be as bad as if you were doing DC Fast charging 5 times a day. I will say in my daily commuter with the Bolt EV my stated range on the dash never changed from the max of 231 until they...
I dunno, to me It's actually a completely different vehicle when they're in D vs B. I just drove one today. When it's not in B and you take the foot off the brake the thing just glides along in a coast. It's kinda disconcerting after driving an aggressive regen car like a Tesla or the Bolt EV in...
My X front wheels have more brake dust than some of my ICE cars of years past. I use regen/one pedal a lot but if you touch the brakes they come ON and there is no feathering that I can detect.
Especially a few white knuckle autopilot moments where coming up on a curve on a highway and you...
The test was 'how well can you offroad with the vehicles offroad package' and the land rover defender that was it's offroad package, 20" rims and thin tires.
i prefer an RFID fob in the pocket more than a phone, I've had less problems with a fob than a phone.
I've also had dead batteries in the phone.
I love the idea though, and would use it if available, but I'd always have a key fob with me anyway.
So in my 2019 X you pull up, with foot on break push the gear selector down twice from park (Drive then Neutral) or down once from drive and off you go. The gear selector looks like a turn signal on the right side of the wheel.
Not sure how the newer model without the gear stalk will do it...
if there are price increases much beyond what they are I'll find something else. I love the truck, love their design, but it's already at the edge of an acceptable car price for this gen-xer.
of any of those I'd rather watch out of spec do it, they're very thorough, and very straight forward. Rich would just be snarky about it or do something dumb (which is why I enjoy his stuff) and Doug meh not a fan of his style. Little too high end tastes for me.
I want detailed experience...
for me it's about towing. 400 range = 200 towing (roughly). I've found at least with Tesla that the superchargers tend to be around 150-200 miles apart. I won't be towing 11000 but for example I need to go pickup my Dad's woodworking shop and move it 1100 miles to my house and towing a...
One thing to note on this is you need to modify the power output some. If it has a 'floating' ground EVSE chargers won't work with it (guess how I figured that out, teenager + ev = sitting on side of road 2miles from house)
I have not done this, as I am not an electrician and finding...
Keep in mind that might be the 'max' Amps it can take. The tesla has a similar button. However most commercial chargers are on 208v, not 240v like at home and it's possible that's a right number for a 208v/30a connection.
