  1. Rear suspension leak

At 79k I needed all 4 dampers and my steering rack replaced. Estimate $12k. Extended warranty would have more than paid for itself in the first year.
  2. Frunk Lid Gone Crazy

This happened sporadically in my truck and was traced to a short or fault in the frunk button. I disengaged power frunk operation so that it stopped fully opening and closing. I never had any concern about it happening while driving.
  3. Front canoe tie down recommendations

Update - the hood loops didn’t work - hood wouldn’t close completely over them. I strapped down to a single front tow hook super tight, padded it, and got no rubbing or damage to the hood. Had a great trip too!
  4. Gen1 LE R1S HV Battery Failure & Replacement

Had a replacement done on my R1T last summer at about 75k. It took several weeks, mostly because they had to wait on the pack. Swap itself takes a day or two. You will almost certainly be getting a manufactured pack, but the one I got showed more capacity than the original did when it came out...
  5. Ohmmu Announces BT19 Sodium 12V Batteries for Rivians: Thoughts?

Got the 12v replacement alert tonight. Ohmmu ordered… fingers crossed they get here before mine fail
  6. Front canoe tie down recommendations

Yes. Tight fit on the Rivian crossbars but they work
  7. Front canoe tie down recommendations

Last canoe trip I tied down to the front tow hooks and padded the straps but still wore through my clear coat on the front edge of the hood. I purchased a pair of T-style hood loops since then but haven’t used them yet. Have a trip planned over memorial weekend I can update then.
  8. Rivian and Redwood Materials partner to re-use Rivian batteries at Normal plant

My pack was replaced last summer due to an alert that appeared, and I believe was ultimately traced to a bad thermistor. Battery itself was still at something like 97% capacity at 75k miles. I’d like to think it would be repurposed for something like this.

Then why is Rivian replacing it?
  10. No place like home

I dealt with this same issue. My actual house/garage is approx 1/4 mile from the street. In 2022 when I got the truck there was no fix, then Rivian updated to allow GPS coordinates instead of a street address. The transition to Google Maps earlier this year threw it off again. I could set to...
  11. Veterinary set up (for mobile vet practice)

I use mine for house calls frequently, but I’m small animal almost exclusively so I don’t need much of a special rig. Gear tunnel slide would be a slick setup for equipment to be lockable and hidden.

  13. Franklin TN Service Center fire

I just traded in my old truck there on Tuesday….
  14. Rivian to lay off 600+ workers / 4% workforce (Oct 23, 2025 report)

A little off topic but our EV9 has had zero problems, approaching 2 years and 35k miles. UI is still terrible and my Rivian is much more fun to drive. But it’s been a solid vehicle for us. I feel like I got a bad draw in the Rivian lottery and a good draw in the Kia lottery. I haven’t posted...
  15. Rivian to lay off 600+ workers / 4% workforce (Oct 23, 2025 report)

I’m at 79k miles and just got an estimate for over $12,000 in repairs - all 4 dampers and the steering rack. I had planned to drive this truck into the ground but I can’t keep it with these kind of repair costs and am planning to trade it in next week.

Did the same thing… exactly once as well
