  1. Who is Buying This Vehicle?

I love my Tesla M3P. Great car. Not one issue in 2years. I have free supercharging as well. Tesla's ecosystem is second to none. Rivian can only aspire to be that good. Never really had any service issues with Tesla. I don't think the MX is worth the cost. Looking to use my LE R1S as a daily...
  2. Depreciation Thoughts

I find this thread amusing. Cars/RV's/Trucks are such an emotional item. Look at how many people are salivating for info. I'm one of those. I think its wise to be able to afford the vehicle you want. Buy it/lease it/finance it then enjoy the crap out of it. It is not, IMHO an investment. Whether...
  3. Who is Buying This Vehicle?

I have ordered an R1S. I am currently driving a Tesla M3P. I love that car. The tech, the speed and the fact that its battery. I want a true SUV and the Model Y is not that nor is the Model X. Love Audi's but their pricing is not a value for me. Plus I'm not happy with their range estimates. So...
  4. Find your Rivian Order Number & Post it Here!

Ok, I must be a moron. I have no way of finding my order number. I chatted with Rivian and they say its bs. Why does it matter anyway? People will drop off of the list. They may produce certain colors first. So in the end, as much as I'm dying to know, I'll be content with hearing from my Rivian...
  5. How long is "longer range" R1S - any intel?

Battery range is just a number. real world range is predicated on a myriad of factors; temperature, heavy foot, road conditions, etc. so in truth it’s really an arbitrary number few people ever get in real life driving.
  6. Driver +.. Deal Breaker ?

I have full self driving on my Tesla M3P. It works fairly well. At times the keep the hands on the wheel prompt is annoying. Yet for the most part I can take my hands and feet off of the controls and the car does the work. Great for getting on LA Freeways and traffic. I've yet to take a nap...
  7. Buying high end EV from start up

This will be my first experience as a launch customer. I believe the excitement of having a Rivian early on will hopefully supersede the inevitable upgrades that will come as the brand matures. I hope that most of the cool tech will be baked into the software. If so, then cool I don't believe...
  8. Rivian Battery Poll - VOTE HERE

I'm a launch edition customer. My preference would be the largest battery. I believe at launch the R1S will have the "large" pack which is the 135W pack.
  9. Roof options

The key to panoramic roofs is having software that allows you to heat or cool the cabin as needed. My tesla m3P has a full glass roof. I put ceramic tint on it. Still in SoCal it gets hot out in the summer. So what I do is pre-cool the car before I get into it. Never an issue when you do that. I...
  10. Can we talk about range again?

Hopefully RJ will incentivize launch customers and initial owners on Rivian network. As a Tesla owner, I change charge levels on a weekly basis. going from Full charge for a week, followed by 80,85 and 90% battery charge status every month. Most of the time, due to a very heavy foot (habitual...
  11. 42 Rivian Adventure Network Charging Stations Announced For Colorado (Including All State Parks)

I’m wondering if Rivian will offer free charging to any of its buyers. As a Tesla owner, I was able to secure lifetime use of supercharger network. Even though I charge mostly at home over night, I do take advantage of the charger network 2x/week. It’s a great opportunity to lower my costs of...
  12. Only 85 Days until the start of deliveries

I'm hoping it comes close to when it is supposed to. I remember being totally excited for my Tesla M3P. now that I've enjoyed battery cars, I'm just hoping for good build quality, great charging network without having to drive to Yosemite to find a charger,LOL. The key for me is going to be all...
  13. Has anyone changed their Launch edition build?

Funny, In my mind, I completely agree with you post. I’ve seldom been a beta Tester for anything. Yet in watching the progress and painstaking testing Rivian has done, I”m going to bite the bullet and be a launch customer. I’d prefer the longer range >400 miles, but don’t want to wait. I like...
  14. Has anyone changed their Launch edition build?

Awesome. thank you for the great info
  15. Has anyone changed their Launch edition build?

Has anyone changed their original configuration for Launch edition? Also, on the website, one of the cautions is that your pricing could change or your place in line could change. I'm wanting to change color from White to Launch Green but am afraid for some reason, I could get charged more or...
  16. Electrify America charging issues - More RAN stations because I don't want to deal with this nonsense.

Charging infrastructure anxiety is something that really concerns me. I've owned both a BMW i3 and my current Tesla. Tesla by far figured out early on that you build out your infrastructure along with selling your cars. EA and Chargepoint are tiny players in this ever growing market. I've had...
  17. Heads up display

I enjoy the cameras on my Tesla. It’s freaky to watch your rear cameras while driving. Rivian is going to bake in the tech with the cameras. It’s a matter of enabling the use of the camera info
  18. Heads up display

the idea of HUD's is it would be a way of eliminating the middle display stack. I'm spoiled driving my M3P. If we are talking about technology and one day the car using mostly autonomous driving then we will need even less displays in the car. Its definitely futuristic and I for one, welcome it.
  19. Heads up display

As someone who has owned a myriad of cars with a heads up display, I cannot imagine why the pioneer electric families continue to ignore offering a heads up display. I currently drive a Tesla M3P and I love the minimalism of the interior. Initially I thought it was distracting to look at the...
  20. Leg Room R1T vs R1S

Great question and it deserves an answer. For me as the primary driver, I don't foresee a time where I will be in the back seat. Therefore, it really doesn't matter.
