In my experience the EA 350s have been a complete waste of time: the last 5+ I tried either failed to initiate, were broken or limited to 30kW. I have always had better luck with the EA 150s, frequently maxing at 160kW. Iāve used 4 RAN chargers on my current road trip, all jumped starting to...
Iāve put 16k on my R1T since September, completed a 1,350 two day trip towing a car+trailer, and am 1,600 miles in to a >3k trip. My experience is that at ~80% of the EA chargers I can pull more current from the 150s (frequently 162 ish) than the 350s (many throttled by EA to 30-40). I have...
I did this using top quality ceramic (I want heat reduction not gansta look): 70% windshield, back windows, and roof, 50% front side windows to match rears. Windshield and roof make a huge difference to cabin temps and allow A/C to run less intrusively.
Happy Ending. I reached out to my guide last week, and she was able to work miracles. I had the windshield replaced at the Michigan SC on Friday. Getting ready for a 3+k trip starting Sunday: Michigan > Denver (work) > Grand Junction > Moab > Santa Fe > tbd > Home.
In Michigan we have moved from the season of ice and snow to the season of road construction, which involves liberally sprinkling the highways with small rocks. You can tell where this is going: rock hits R1T windshield last week, I go to get it filled before the crack spreads, my local auto...
1,321 mile round trip in two days, half pulling empty trailer, second half with a project Z4 to work on with my son this summer. 1.43 mi/kWh is really not bad. Only charging frustrations were in Canada with 350kW rated chargers struggling to delivery 30-50 kW with no other vehicles at the...
Not yet. Iāve just crossed 10k with the ATs and have done a second 5 tire rotation. I think Iām going to get 25k out of them. My ATs really have zero resale, so Iām inclined to wear them out then make a one time change to 33ā AS3. I may try to source 3 more wheels and have a winter set.
Ride was significantly better on the 21s primarily because the 21s are AS tires vs the ATs on the 20s.
1. AT tread design creates more NVH on road
2. AT sidewalls are thicker and less compliant than AS so more vertical movement makes it you your seat
3. ATs are significantly heavier than the AS...
I donāt think so. Iām not going to be loading the truck to weight capacity or pulling 11,000lbs where I would need all of the 116 rating. The 115 should ride and handle a little better, but probably at the expense of tread life. That said, the AS3ās are 800 treadwear vs 600 for the OEM spec 21s.
It was the loaner with 21ā AS that did it for me: range, noise and highway ride comfort. Iām thinking that the stronger, lighter, better looking forged 20ā wheels with the range and NVH of the 21s would be the sweet spot for me. The 20ā Scorpions are also $200 cheaper per tire than the OEM...
Just installed the CCS bike rail, chocks and tie down. Looks factory and stops the front wheel from damaging the fragile tonneau cover. Thank you to the earlier posters!
To those that have already done this, do you think that I'm OK with a single central tie down for two bikes, or should I add...
Just completed a 600 mile drive during the recent snowmageddon - the R1T performed very well with the 20"ATs in snow mode, averaging 1.73 mi/kWh @ 51 mph (70-75 on cleared dry highways). The Rivian All-Weather Mats less well: they do an excellent job of ejecting salt water from the back corners...
TLDR: Tidal is great, but there is more work to do.
I've been an audiophile since I saved up enough cash for a decent turntable in my teens. I'm not into woo woo audio science and snake oil, for me it's all about getting close to the emotional impact of the artist playing for you in your...
No legal requirement, my 2014 Cayenne had a simple menu to select:
1. Wheel size
2. Tire type (summer, AS or winter)
3. Load (full or partial)
Worked every time, took maybe 15 seconds, no reason to visit the dealer, or call the factory every time I changed from summer to winter wheels/tires...
Hereās how I removed the stickers from the Alcantara visors on my C8. Took a little trial and error, now I know how to do it with no glue residue left behind.
Many thanks for posting the photos, Iām going to replicate this exact setup. Before I buy the parts, is there anything that you would change having used it for a while? Iām thinking about running a second rail in the lower position and putting the tiedows there.
I live in SE Michigan and drive to Northern MI frequently. I really donāt care about the Grayling RAN chargers, there are 350 Kw chargers in Bay City and Gaylord, Grayling adds nothing. What would actually be useful are a couple of RAN chargers in the UP, such as Munising and Newberry. This...
