I have seen it at the past Chicago Auto Show and then both Chicago Block parties. I think it is absolutely perfect for the cost and conditions compared to the R1 line. Rivian team did an amazing job. I can not wait to get my hands on one. People need to understand that this is a lower cost model, thus some, not all of R1 premium items came over. I think what they did pull over still gives the space a premium feel with a lot of character. I think the Coastal Cloud is going to event be more premium feel with is dual contract of tones and color. The only thin I was disappointed with was no means of being able to see the colors outside in lieu of indoors. I think there is a lot of undertone and flake building into these new colors that they are best seen and understood in outdoor conditions vs indoors. Overall I am sold and can't wait to configure.

Will be replacing a 2013 Prius V with an R2 Performance on 21's w/ Coastal Cloud Interior. Prefer with Rap1 Chip set-up for long term ownership software update ceiling. Exterior colors of interest are Catalina Cove, Forest Green, Half Moon Grey or Esker Silver. Would go Launch green, but doubt I will have the opportunity given my August '24 reservation as I am probably a mid to late 2027 config open at best. Would love Dark 21's too if available. Sure hope they bring a dark trim package in the near future.

My main one is that it doesn't come in red 😭
Yeah my plan is to hold for one MY and hope for more colors - including Red Canyon. But need to see it live before committing, etc.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Also, people are rightfully saying the iX3 and EX60 are nice alternatives, but neither one is going to have the level of autonomy or horsepower the launch R2 has at sub-$60,000. I think Rivian has a real winner on their hands.
I agree and I don’t think anyone will be getting a new iX3 or EX60 for $60K any time soon either. Only if they don’t sell well or the tax credit comes back. Not to mention having to buy one from a dealership.

I'm curious what premium features are missing? I'm actually happy to lose the air suspension and camp speaker. It's not like the R1 had real leather.

I think the biggest things I'll miss are the fully powered hood and the split tailgate. But the R2 has not one, but two glove boxes!

Given everything known about the R2, I'm having trouble understanding any disappointment with it.

There's no drain plug in the frunk? We still don't know what the stereo is going to sound like?

My biggest complaint has to do with the costal cloud interior not being available on day one.

The exterior color options I can deal with, because it's going to be a pretty easy car to vinyl wrap in any color you could want.

I'd much rather have the roll down window than the split tailgate. It's far more functional both for airflow and for oversize loads.

Dang call me an idiot but I just realized I call haul 2x4’s bc the rear window rolls down. That’s awesome. I knew the window rolled down but didn’t think about the hauling possibilities.

Since I learned that purple won't be available before I attended the Long Island block party, no disappointment here. Will order launch if made available to me.

That's true, I kind of forgot about that. I love the split tailgate on the X5, and what I had on my R1S. It is just so nice for loading groceries and stuff, as well as being a really nice built in seat. The rear window should give me half of that.

My thought for loading/unloading groceries is that I'll just drop the window and keep the liftgate closed. As long as what you're loading or unloading is smaller than the window opening it will actually be easier than the split gate of the R1 becuase you don't have to worry about the overhead clearance.

Anyone know if the R2 does the charging green lights like R1 does? LED bars on front and back
