I have not. How does your router associate a device name with an ip address? Any chance you used to have an S22 on your network and the Rivian has now been assigned that same ip by your router?

Not sure how any of it works.
Never had a Samsung.
Device list shows items by what they are, IPhone, IPad, LG tv, etc.
There was and still is no listing for the Rivian.

Mine shows manufacturer and model as Rivian. What does the MAC address start with? Mine starts with 20:ba:36. I think Rivian also has 70:69:79, 54:64:de, and 54:f8:2a, among others, probably.

Yes, my Gen 2 R1T shows up as a Samsung S22 Ultra. The MAC address is 04:c4:61 which translates to Murata Manufacturing in Japan. I don't know is Samsung uses chips from Murata, but that would be my guess.

Ah, Thanks for this! When I connected my new Gen 2 R1T to wifi last week I went into my eero network to label it because I have so many unknown devices on my wifi. I couldnt find it… Turns out mine shows up as Murata Manufacturing Co.,Ltd. with mac address 04:c4:61

OS and manufacturer/vendor fingerprinting is driven by the vendor of the Wi-FI AP. And this is often done through a variety of ways (MAC OUI, DHCP info, etc). With any AP vendor the client fingerprinting is best effort and it's not uncommon to see incorrect info.

As another here mentioned our Rivians are ID'd as Murata Manufacturing by my Meraki kit. The Rivian wall charger shows as u-blox.

Ours only comes up as Murata, but had to replace our home WiFi system with a newer, (Eero), since the Rivian refused to connect to the (only 4yr old) Netgear routers.

Not only does my Rivian show up as a Samsung S22 Ultra, my FLO level 2 Charger does as well.

My R1S shows up on my home WiFi Network (Orbi) as Samsung-Galaxy S22 Ultra and like others we have no Samsung products and this showed up only when I connected my R1S. I've only had my R1S for 2 weeks so haven't had a chance to look more into this.

Routers are all just "best-guessing" at devices, base on tables of MAC addresses and maybe some optional data being passed along. My iPhones rotate MAC addresses for privacy and some days they show up as Android devices, iMacs, Alexas, or smart lights, mostly randomly. What any device is detected as really depends on what your router/gateway is and how aggressive/guessy it is and how frequently/accurately they update their internal tables, but it will never be better than a decent guess.

My Rivian shows up as a "Google Device," and there's no easy way in the car to determine the MAC address so I had to trial-and-error to narrow down that it was in fact the car.

Same thing happened to me. No Samsungs in my household, so it took a little investigation to figure out that that Samsung s22 is actually our Rivian. Not sure why this is happening. I thought that someone with that Samsung phone hacked into my home network...
