Hey R2 Adventurers,

Our new Aero Crossbar roof rack has launched! I am pleased to share the details & introductory offer HERE - https://evsportline.com/products/rmaxx-aero-crossbar-roof-rack-system-for-rivian-r2

Just shot a video today, will add it shortly.

We poured a lot of effort and thoughtfulness into 'how do we make the BEST rack for R2", a few highlights:

1 - Truely designed from scratch for R2 (no carry-over parts from 'other racks')
2 - Focused on aero optimization and preserving range, with MANY industry firsts
a - Aero shaped crossbars (these are not off-the-shelf generic square extrusions), we designed for aero and got our own extrusion made
b - low profile (a no brainer!)
c - aero panels / platform with proper ducting to rear spoiler air ports(BIG range saver)
d - match the leading and trailing edges of vehicle (believe it or not, this is not common with other racks!)
3 - all the obvious 'rack' features (strength, aluminum, ports/bolt-holes/slots for everything, grab handles)
4 - bolts to NEW R2 roof ports

Pictures for now!

@EV Sportline FYI looks like your link is broken.

This looks great. I didn't add the Rivian crossbars to my order because I don't have an immediate need for them, but now I'm considering this solution instead. Bonus, the aero platform will act as an external sunshade for the roof, so the whole sunroof tint/interior sunshade debate goes away.

Looks as though the pics have two sets of the Aluminum billet handles installed? Those aren't included/would be an add-on correct?

correct, add-on: HERE

There were shortcomings and/or design issues i didn't like on other grab handles, so we just designed our own and fixed all the issues.

  • CNC-machined billet aluminum construction
  • Durable, weather-resistant powder-coated finish
  • Multiple mounting-position options
  • Provides a secure handhold for easier rack access
  • Ideal for RMaxx Roof Rack and Bed Rack systems
  • Simple bolt-on installation
  • Includes 2 billet grab handles
  • Includes M8 hardware
  • Bolt centerline distance 7.25"

The aero panels is a neat touch that I never seen before.

I like the idea because when I mount things on my roof, I'm always worried about dropping my ratchet straps and potentially cracking the glass. As a potential additional benefit, I assume it can help keep the cabin cooler as well by blocking the sun.

All that effort and marketing on the 'aero' aspect of this thing and yet its side view looks like the most un-aerodynamic part of it. Two different screw types are being used, they look like ones randomly chosen from a spare parts bin. The countersunk ones aren't even seated flush with the frame. ....any why add handles that sticks out in the airstream? EV makers take great pains to make their door handles flush.. Hand holes would have sufficed..

I don't get it.

Good points,

But keep in mind the 'grab bars' are 100% optional. There are indeed integrated 'grab holes', as you can see. We only offer grab bars because some folks will want them, despite the range.

Fasteners, we are indeed using very specific low profile large diameter head bolts (no washer needed) - very specifically specified! Not the parts bin randoms ha ha. The reason we cant / dont / wont countersink is because of the load rating - side plates are not thick enough to countersink, and making thicker side plates to allow countersink fasteners is adding more weight and cost - not worth the tiny countersink value. Countersink also eliminates the ability to slot (allow adjustment) the upper crossbar mounting points. This is all very well thought out.

That said, the couple button heads fasteners you see in our original photos are only on this preproduction sample. All production hardware will be the low profile like this:
