With the renaming to Premium and Performance trims, I think R1 Quads and a future R2 Tri will become either RAD trims or X trims (for consistency with the R3X).

They 100% have arm rests. They flip up and tuck away into the seat. They also have pop out cup holders.

Ah I see them now in the configurator. The main photo looks like they are missing.

I wish there were more than just Autonomy+ as reasons (in my case) to upgrade from my Gen1... Went through the build and I basically built the same color, same spec R1S, so I am just basically getting fresh paint and Autonomy+ for an additional 40k

Those of us with the pre-price increase defo have a much harder time trading in lol. It feels like an amazing deal to be honest. I'm waiting until my warranty is over, and then I'll grab another R1S with Captains chairs.

Wow this is such a whelming update for 2027. Seems like they’re going to save the halos for a 28 model, or my hope, a real platform refresh when Georgia opens in 29. I want an R1T with a drop window in the back.

You're ignoring car seats. This is a big deal for families with two car seats or more.

My kids are all teenagers now but we had two boosters and a car seat in the middle bench of our explorer and then three boosters in the R1S for years. Never were interested in giving up the cargo space of the third row. We eventually changed to one booster in the third row as the kids got bigger and now no car seats, but two in the middle and one in the third row.

I can see the car seat thing, but I think a majority of reasons people want the captains chairs is to separate the kids and third row access without folding seats. We had to special order an old explorer with the middle bench because people were obsessed with the captains chairs even though it drops the seating capacity by one.

It's a smart move by Rivian though, I think it cost them a lot of sales in the past, but still think it is silly

Honestly, more updates than I was expecting given so much focus on the R2. Switch to 800v would have been a homerun, but these updates are nice. All in all, kudos to Rivian for keeping things competitive. I don’t think this will spike R1 sales or anything, but will definitely keep them steady IMO

Love the captains chairs but…. They don’t have arm rests?? Looks like they simply ripped out the center seat.

That would have been a very ingenious member that may have been caught mid-point by his wife because we were initially getting very detailed updates and then no one has heard from him since.

We can have two car seats in the captains chairs, and let the dog have the third row.
