Strange - Page 59 TXKidd that just received their VIN and looking past messages they ordered a LG20 on 6/22. I've also seen a few people last week and early this week get LG21 VINs. I was hoping our batch of LG20s was running this week.
Finally got a VIN this morning!

Reservation on 3/7/24
Ordered 7/8/26
Delivery not scheduled yet
LG 20" AT
VIN low 4500’s

Another issue I'm running into getting financing quotes is that a couple of credit unions are wanting a purchase agreement to process my credit application. My understanding is that Rivian doesn't produce an agreement until later in the purchase process. Anyone else run into this?
I completed all the steps as quickly as I could, which actually ended up biting me because my insurance and loan payment were scheduled too early. I ended up calling USAA once I had the pickup date and they retroactively shifted everything back so I wasn't paying for a car I didn't have, but it would have been easier if I had waited.

My understanding is that Rivian is producing and shipping the car no matter what. The steps have to be complete by delivery, but don't necessarily need to be completed for delivery to be scheduled. So you should be able to wait a bit before locking down financing, insurance, etc.

I think I got the purchase contract as soon as the VIN was assigned. But even without that I would imagine you should be able to get a financing quote with just the total price information, maybe you need to talk to a human to push it through.

Similarly, reach out to [email protected] for any questions about what needs to be done when. They'll be able to help with getting documents sorted out.

I am also going through USAA and I paused at the financing until I got closer to pickup date which is this coming Tuesday.

My vin is 2900 range.

I'll complete the signing of docs with USAA this weekend and then Tuesday morning I plan to complete the insurance step. I'm not paying for insurance on a car I don't own and it appears they won't let you complete that insurance step unless it shows the R2 on it.

Has anyone traded in their existing Rivian lease? A big reason I'm doing the trade-in was the amount they would give me - I get $5900 credit to the R2 for trading it in which I would not get if I return the truck in 11 months when the lease ends. Also I am going to have to get new AT tires by end of year which will save me another $3600. But I'm curious how the trade-in process is compared to lease. I have some mods done to the truck, do I have to restore it? I assume no, but figured I should make sure I know so there are no surprises. I plasti-dipped all the lettering, wrapped all the silver parts, and tinted the front windows. If I don't have to restore it that saved me time/pain.

I knew I recognized you. You were the one I purchased the R1T off of a few years ago. What ever happened to the CyberTruck you were getting?

no way! How is it going with it? I was going to but then my friend who works at Rivian got me an amazing fam/friends discount on this lease - $560/mo. Couldn’t pass that up. I’m glad I did though - I don’t think I would have been happy with the cyber truck.

and now it seems I’ll be moving over into the R2? Well it’s for the wife but I’ll see what I get next.

I like this dual performance but it’s not the quad performance wise - but I also never use the acceleration fully even on this one

Double check with Rivian on the insurance part. I saw that in some cases they may require proof of insurance up to 72 hours before delivery "to avoid any delays". Maybe that's a CYA policy or maybe that only applies to financing/payment, but I wouldn't want your delivery to be pushed back over something silly like that.

I submitted my current insurance information on our Tesla Y (Which we're trading in) and they accepted it. I just need to upload my finance check, which we're holding on picking up until closer to pick up. However, the delivery team did say I need to submit a picture of the check before 3pm the day before pickup.

It going well. It has been a great last few years with it. Tons of roadtrips, camping and adventures. I am finally trading it in for the R2 just as a stop gap until I figure out what is next then my wife will take over the R2.

I wanted something a little lighter and more nimble as I come from smaller, more agile cars. We will see how this goes otherwise I may be getting something else sooner than expected, LOL. I'm picking up the R2 in a couple of hours.

Correct. On my delivery day yesterday they said my insurance was not up-to-date from what I submitted, which was very odd but they said I could submit any insurance that I currently have and it will be accepted. I just resubmitted my R2 insurance card and then it was time for pick up.

nice! Glad to hear you had a great experience with it. Which R2 color/wheel combo did you go with? I did the launch green and black interior. Dropping it off the next day for full PPF wrap this time.

I really don’t know what I’d get for myself next. Don’t want two R2’s but I do like being able to keep my surfboards locked up inside vs with my truck when I go to the office I have to carry it into the building which is always awkward.

for now I’ll take my wife’s model 3 until I figure out what I want…

It was either between Launch Green and Catalina Cove and I ended up going with Catalina Cove on 20s. I figured the blue was somewhat of a throwback to my 2017 BMW M2 in Long Beach Blue which I loved.

Yeah I don't know exactly what I would want next either. I'll keep an eye out on the Gen 3 R1s when they are released likely next year but I really love the R3X but that is like a good 3-4 years out I'd imagine.

There is not much in other brands that is calling my name at the moment. Funny how similiar we are as my wife has a Model Y currently that we will eventually get rid of but if she takes over the R2 eventually, I'll drive it until I find what is next.

I have tried to cancel my order 3 times but zero response from Rivian. I guess they want to ship it to Dallas?! If anyone in the metroplex ordered an ES on 20’s, VIN 3093 is heading our way 😃
just put in an order for silver with 20s this week, maybe they'll forward yours on down i35 a couple hours to me!

haha for sure. So maybe our next vehicles will be the same too. I could be convinced into a cyber truck but only if it was a lot cheaper. Otherwise I really don’t know what to get either. I want something I can keep my surfboards in and secured. Hopefully next year there will be some options on the horizon.

I canceled this afternoon so I’m pulling for you! Good luck to all with their R2’s and maybe I’ll see you in a few years.
