My favorite truck took on a deer and lost. Im in Durango Colorado-closest service center is in Colorado Springs-5hrs away. After reading some other threads, it seems like this is going to be a long and expensive repair process. Has anyone else had a successful repair after this type of damage?

Ouch - I don't think anyone can give you anything more specific than "a long time." It's probably the location of the hit (charging port) that will give you the most grief.

Deer remain one of my biggest concerns when driving on interstates at 70+ mph. I'm hoping that (someday) LIDAR will be able to spot them and issue a warning, but even that may not help. For example, on the PA Turnpike near us there are frequently "trained" (in the sense that they don't run out onto the road) deer eating the grass alongside the road as we zip along. If the Rivian saw them AND slammed on the brakes I'm sure I'd get rear-ended.

I got hit on the driver side by a deer while driving in Florida about 18 months ago. Truck was in the (Rivian certified) shop here in Southern Mississippi for 2 full months and my insurance paid ~23k. I had a 2024 R1T Dual Performance at that time.

@RivianDad had a somewhat similar side impact repair experience which can help set expectations. I do not believe his charge port was affected.

Got hit by a deer in Oregon on highway 97 doing the speed limit but the speed limit was 65mph. Of course tons of cosmetic damage but the A/C temp control and the battery temp control got destroyed. We did ok until we had to go back to Los Angeles through the vey hot central valley and then we could not charge as the battery was too hot. Had to be towed on the last short leg. The final bill was about $18K and it was repaired in 3 weeks and done very well with no issues at all by a Rivian approved repair center in LA. We had bought State Farm insurance with a $500 deductible so we lucked out. JB
