Anyone have R2 highway driving range to share? (I'm sure the color you picked looks great)

My wife made it clear our next EV needs to have around 4 hours driving time at 75 mph. I know the R2 won't get that but if it can go almost 3.5 hours on 100-10% charge I might be able to convince her. Any one have any efficiency numbers for highway driving at a specific speed they'd be willing to share? Showing her nice colors of R2s won't get me anywhere.
Should be do-able, as long as it's all downhill with wind in your back.

We got an Excalade IQ Sport recently and took it on a 2400 mile road trip, easily gets over 400 miles at 75mph, and peak charging is at 375kw.
Very nice. Escalade is pretty awesome. I am eyeing it for the 2028 model year when the promised Level 3 Eyes off autonomy arrives.

Ok I find the term “renewable energy” kinda funny

Sorry, but it is just a buzzword, there’s no such thing in my opinion. You charge your car (we won’t debate what created the charge) and you drive your EV. You do not get that energy back!

Solar? The sun is a star that will burn out at some point

Physics has potential and kinetic energy, but no renewable energy.

I am all about EV’s, the R2 will be our first, but it burns electrical energy to run, nothing renewable about it, no different than renewing (filling)the gasoline in an ICE vehicle

Fossil fuels are a finite resource. How finite remains to be seen. The sun is an infinite resource. If the sun burns out, all of human life is dead anyways.

What doesn't get talked about enough with regards to "renewables" IMO is how all the old solar panels and batteries go into landfills. I know I know a small portion is recycled but the vast majority is dumped into landfills.

Which is why nuclear is our best option today, outside of the economics (which is a big deal btw). The power generated by nuclear fuel is so much greater than the waste product. The ratio is crazy.

If the sun burns out, what we drive won't matter but what we breath everyday now does to many of us. Many would say I'm a hypocrite since I still own an ICE car along with my EV. I still take flights that use fossil fuels, maybe an occasional cruise also. We each make choices within our ability to do so. Not judging others for those choices goes a long way to keeping and making new friends. Saving the planet isn't something I put at the top of my reasons for my daily choices but I try not to ignore that it does affect our health now and future generations. When people criticize my choice to drive primarily EVs, they usually don't care to hear why I do and I don't try to force them to listen. Same when it comes to politics and religion. Live and let live. If people don't buy EVs, less congestion at the DCFCs when I take trips...lol. Look for the silver lining hard enough to be happy.

I'm sure there is a lack of "education" with most people when it comes to EV's; no doubt about that. But no amount of "education" will change how a lot of people feel and what they desire though. My wife will never drive an EV and has zero desire to do so. She's fine with me driving one and us going places together bc she knows I'll take care of all the charging. She barely keeps her phone charged so telling her to plug in her car at night or look for a charger is just a nonstarter.

Gas is seen as easier for most people and there's nothing wrong with that. People are different and like different things. Easier to you or me may be harder for someone else. Not everyone wants to be on the cutting edge of new technology either. In fact a large majority of people don't want that. Until there is an EV charger that just works on every street corner of America like gas stations are, EV's will remain a nonstarter for a lot of people - and that's ok.

Edited for clarity
When I bought our first EV, back in 2017, my wife was non plussed. Soon enough, she was happy to be driving it everywhere. As usual YMMV. The only time that I find the EV to be a pain is when we go to a destination overnight without level 2 charging.

100%. There are infinite ways to die and just as many more immediate threats before the sun burns out.

I respect your opinion, and I won't go into this any further, except to say that it's very sad that the science has been made political by people who don't respect science. And you have to start somewhere; kicking the can down the road and saying it's too soon is what got us into this mess. We've had decades.
The politics of global warming goes both ways, and much of it has nothing to do with science.

I purchased my R1T because I love the technology and the performance. I don't think my truck is slowing down global warming.

My wife is similar to @Jeremy3292's and she has no desire to get a BEV. Every time she mentions (or complains) that she is almost out of gas, I remind her that will never happen if she drove a BEV. It's always fueled and ready to go.

The biggest roadblock for my wife is the experience she had when we traveled in my Mach-e. It was not good. We had multiple poor charging experiences and the range was not good enough. My T almost solves the range problem and public charging has improved, but it still is much more painful than gas refueling when on a trip. Travel parity with ICEVs has a ways to go, unfortunately.

Thank God for ’Merica where I can sit on my couch crushing Doritos and Coke, then hop in my Suburban to drive the kids a full mile to school. But stopping at a Supercharger for 15 minutes and taking a short walk? Absolutely not. That’s communism… or worse yet, exercise.

I'm sure that goes well every time you say that to your wife :CWL:

I drive EV's because they are more fun to drive. As well as much cheaper for me since I have solar. I still have 2 ICE cars but now loathe going to gas station like I'm a former smoker going into a house full of smoke.

Can't wait to try an R2 out and see if we can get close to the 4 hours.

This poor guy just wanted to know about the real world range of the R2 and now we have literally talked about everything but 😂

Edit: I do love this forum though. I appreciate how this community keeps things (mostly) civil while still having some fun.

We all answered the question in the first page or two then got bored :CWL: we gotta string this thing out to 26 pages like the FM radio thread!

Being that the sun has a few billion years to go before becoming a supernova, it's pretty safe to assume that we will have a few more mass extinction events between now and then.
