I’m a little surprised - no R2 flips yet?

It is true. I'll show you. I will make a reservation now hold please ....

Ok experiment started
Yes, reservations are always open.

They're only going to produce around 20k R2's this year, and I'm confident the demand is higher than that. There are many with too little patience and too much $ 🤣

Let's see. I will report back if and when I get an invitation to order. It is an experiment. I predict before this time next week.

Yep, there's always a chance one will get theirs soon! Some of the early lucky ones will be selected via a lottery system, amongst the many other factors.

So I take this lack of flipping activity to mean no one listens to FM/AM or give a flying F about lack of Apple CarPlay? /s
Zero interest in CarPlay. I say that as someone who almost always uses it in my Crosstrek. But I'm hardly going to choose one car over another based on the entertainment system. I can deal with that on my own.

It's a lot of hooey, born out of fear for something new. I've had Apple devices and products since the 1980s, personally and professionally. They are much easier to use than the competition. But not flawless. Recently I tried to plot out a Sunday drive for myself to use with another car (on my phone and my Macbook Pro) and Apple Maps drove me insane. Over 5,000 days since Maps launch and there is still no reliable or intuitive way to do this. One recommended method did not allow me to tell it I'd be driving and would have had me driving on the wrong side of the road multiple times and take unnecessary detours through side streets and neighborhoods. And just this week alone, I learned about Lucid owners hating the CarPlay they have because it just didn't work. Just today I saw an article saying RAV4 owners are complaining theirs don't work.

Even at previous software versions, with reduced functionality, I never once thought "OMG, I can't live without CarPlay" whenever I drove my R1T.

I agree. Why can't there be an easy way to store my favorites that are way to find? Simply no way I would want CarPlay.

I know Orlando has a few first deliveries scheduled tomorrow.
I test drove a R2 at North Orlando yesterday. Nice people and facility. I dint really count but there were approximately 3-5 R2s.

Quick question to keep in mind. If you buy a flipped Rivian, it can't be sold as new, which means higher interest rates. But I guess if you're not willing to wait, and pay a premium, that's not likely a priority?
Not necessarily on the higher interest rates. My credit union gives new car rates on "near new" cars. I don't recall the grace period, but something like a R2 flip would certainly qualify.

That's cool. I'll have to keep that in mind.

Flipping doesn't really make sense, because if it's going to be sold above market price, then your getting into R1S territory that already exists.

I just don’t see a flipping market for this early version of the R2. The major flaw is that it uses older Gen 2 tech without LiDAR. Also, unless there is a way to order it with an MSO, I’m not seeing how you can get this vehicle untitled so you can sell it to the next person as a brand-new vehicle.

Flipping is done on early release new models, when demand is at it's highest. There are folks that want the new shiny thing NOW and will pay a premium for it. R1's are readily available...not R2. Simple supply and demand.

There's a market. There is always a market. Even a tiny one. Why? There are always certain folks who have more $ than sense. Elevated price would be R1 territory? Sure. But you're overlooking the one flaw in your reasoning: you are applying logic to an impulse buy. Take Boring Co.'s flamethrower. Who actually needs a flamethrower? Yet, people were willing to pay 3~4x original price when a lighter and can of hair spray cost way less and does exactly the same thing. Any R2 flipping will be short lived, just like most fads (especially given current state of consumer mood).
