It's sad to see that Tesla offers Military Veterans a discount, but Rivian does not.

Tesla didn't start offering that program until the middle of 2024 (with an exclusion for the Cybertruck), arguably after demand start to wane in 2023.

Rivian is still in its early growth stage. Maybe they could offer some sort of discount program on the R1 line, but unlikely to hit the R2 anytime soon.

Meanwhile "why is Rivian not profitable still!!". Or, "why only 1,000 RAN plugs after four years!!!" Or, "why do I still have to wait to get service!!!" Or, "why do I still have to drive 200 miles to nearest SC!!!"

Tesla started delivering cars when? What's Tesla's annual production and delivery volume? Annual revenue? Compare that to answers for Rivian?

Another knee jerk complaint based on obviously false equivalences. If Rivian did every single thing everyone wanted, they wouldn't be in business today to launch the R2.

Nuts.

I say that to people who have stock (I don't have any stock myself) and ask why they are profitable yet. I'm like, they are a brand new company in a high barrier, capital intensive market, moving quickly with a mature industry. It's going to take time to build out SC, space, factories, and support, all being supported by a luxury flag ship model not meant to sell a lot. What did you expect?
