Hotfixes address specific known issues/problems/bugs. Updates more broadly add new or revise existing functionality. This fits the definition of a hotfix, not an update.

So true. 3D printing forums/groups are particularly bad. A noob posts a question they could have easily found a gazillion discussions about ("Should I use Glue Stick?") and then a free for all of criticism, bad advice and counterpoint posts follows. I rarely visit or post in 3D forums anymore.
As mentioned above, it's most likely a bad sensor and not a wiring fault. I can't speak for Rivian, but most crash sensors have power, ground and and a digital output signal that indicates when a crash occurs. If the wiring was bad, it should indicate a fault, not a crash.

It does some physical control. I tried "Open Liftgate" today. RA responded to verify the request. I forget exactly what it said, but it was something like "Please confirm you want to open the liftgate" . I said yes, and it opened. It also closes with no verification request.
