I agree with the 1st half of your comments but not the later. It is unrealistic to expect anything major with a new chip set with tons of unknown. It's more likely that the G2 and 2.5 get it sooner and LiDar cars get it later. Remember all the data today is G2-2.5.

The current chip in the R2 is = or better than HW4 so unless Rivian has bloated code, I don't see a world where it is not capable. Also knowing Rivian announced P2P for this year would point to the current hardware plenty capable. The only reason the RAP1 is needed is for real time LiDar...

I don’t know where you got this info but it’s incorrect. The 21s and 20s are both forged. It’s stated on the Rivian site.

In my R2 today 95% of my commute is in UHF. Only getting to, on and off the freeway it’s not. I am very impressed. Once P2P is available no one will care about LiDar.

The current R1 and R2 are both capable of P2P hands off. No one will see any material benefit from G3 in the next 5 years. I think this is the real reason Rivian is not rushing the R1 update. I can see a 2029 model getting all the updates. Also probably a RAP2 chip.

Yes, R2 is G2.5 not G2 like in the R1. Also from my research HW4 and the R2 are =239.198 yd² in terms of performance. When Tesla switches to its new chip the RAP1 will be 2x more powerful.

So on the site it does not include the destination, delivery, registration, license, lease inception fee and any tax. Your purchase agreement will have all those items factored in. I think on my G1 R1T QM it was almost $4k and sticker was $90k. This was on a lease.
