Good luck…mine set me back $1300 or so all in. They replaced both upper and lower tie rods. In other news the Landcruiser hybrid is available in the spring.
I got my R1T in March. Had a tie-rod problem (you can find the saga on another thread) and last weekend had the rear air suspension blow (system cannot elevate out of lowest setting - and sound of rushing air as if it is trying to blow air but it just comes right out). And to answer the obvious...
There is a 2 mile dirt road between my house and the trail head - so taking multiple trips down the dirt road which has various sized potholes (sorry, no pictures :)
Was not taken off road or doing anything more than substantive than just hitting a pothole. The most likely explanation is that I...
Little update: I sent an email to the Rivian Guide and after a few days got directed back to the service center. Spoke with the service manager. Had a bit of a bizarre conversation that I think was to cover for his mechanic / advisor who were overzealous:
"We recommend that you replace the...
That is good feedback - and as others have commented good to keep an open mind. Re the damage - just pot holes on a dirt road. Was surprised that is all it took.
Which is why I asked the question re tie rod being integrated or not. If it isn't than the only reason to replace the rack is that it is considered damaged (which would be hard to tell without taking it out)
Yeah exactly. I’m either being lied to or more likely the rivian supply chain only provides for tie rods attached to steer columns (for production). Needless to say either way I’m getting rid of the truck. $5k/tie rod isn’t in the cards for me.
Quick question - longer story to follow: is the R1T tie rod integral to the steering rack? I bent a tie rod last week - and I am being told by the Rivian service team that it requires replacement of the entire rack ($4957) rather than just swapping out the rod (at most a $500).
