Hi all - new R1S owner here, tapping into the experts.

I’m taking a trip from Minneapolis to the Silver Bay / Finland MN area next weekend, about 225 mi. My 400-mi Max battery will get me there with plenty to spare, but I’ll need to charge to get home. Would you recommend buying/borrowing an NACS adapter? Or are any of the ChargePoint stations in Duluth fast enough to avoid making it an hour-long stop? Thanks in advance for any tips!

Unfortunately, the Electrify America in Duluth isn’t showing as “open” yet. When I’ve traveled up north, I’ve found using “ZEF Energy” app useful in finding charging stations. Usually slower speed. Additionally, have you tried mapping your route using PlugShare or ABRP?

Thanks, I’ll check out ZEF! I did try PlugShare and see a lot more options than what Rivian shows, including spots at Cove Point and Grand Superior Lodge, so I’m glad to know there are more options up there.

I will say there are not a lot of super fast chargers in northern MN, but i also last went up before the Tesla superchargers were available to Rivians. You may want to pick up an adapter and give that a try. However, i will say that if you plan your stops around food and getting out to stretch, it’s not that bad.

Try the electrify America station in Pine City. Hit it on the way up and the way back. Also a charge point in Moose Lake but that is a slower 62 kw unit.

I’m in Bayfield, WI as we speak. I used my A2Z adapter at the Carlton Tesla SC. Worked great. That’s going to be your best bet if you can get an adapter. Also, Pine City may work if you can figure out the route.

Super helpful suggestions, thank you all! I ordered the Lectron because the A2Z has big shipping delays right now, but even the Lectron may not show up in time.

So on that note, any tips on local groups or shops that loan out adapters for short-term use? If not, I’ll just route accordingly!

I’m headed to the BWCA in a few days, starting from Webb Lake Wisconsin where my cabin is. I’ll leave there as close to 100% as I can get. Destination is Rockwood Lodge on Poplar Lake 30 miles up the Gunflint. They have a decently fast charger that is free for overnight customers! We’re using their bunkhouse overnight before paddling out. Seems like Pine City or Moose Lake are the few mid-trip chargers for those leaving from the Cities. There are a couple 6kw chargers at state parks on the way up 61 also.

Awesome. We’re big fans of Poplar. We have a Bearskin trip later this month - they also have a charger for guests!

Cheapseats, that’s good to know!

@Lawrence-of-Blaine
PlugShare helped me find that Superior Shores (just past Two Harbors) has a ~10kW charger, and Clearview General in Lutsen has a 12 and a 25. No adapters needed.

A 25 in Lutsen? I missed that one!

Late to the thread but the ZEF moved their Grand Marais 50kw charger to the campground
