I just joined the Rivian Forum today and am reaching out to any or all of the "Kamaaina Rivian Members".

How do any of you that currently own a Rivian in Hawaii get them serviced, or have warranty / guarantee issues addressed with your vehicle?

I’ve been told by some owners on island that a mobile tech comes quarterly to Hawaii and Alaska to perform some services. Oahu SC is supposed to open 7/2024.

I plan to ship my R1S to the Big island mid 1/2024 for a late January/early February arrival.

I talked to a representative who reached out to me after I did a test drive of a R1t in Richmond. After our discussion he reached up to his supervisors and even several contacts he had on the west coast and there are no plans to have a mobile tech coming to Hawaii now or in the near future.

I also read the press release from Rivian of the opening a Service Center in Kapalama, Honolulu, in the summer of 2024. He would neither confirm nor deny that it was in the works. He did mention that he was told that we in Hawaii would get some very interesting news about Rivian's plans for Hawaii.

I reached out to Bobbie Lau, Senior Asset Manager at Kamehameha Schools (I had worked with her on another project some years ago). She confirmed that Rivian did have a lease agreement with Kamehameha Schools but still had not submitted drawings for review or discussion, so when considering the timeframe, it takes to process for permits thru the City and County of Honolulu, if that process has not started, I personally don't think the summer of 2024 is reasonable timeframe. Maybe Spring of 2025?

Anyway, Rivian and Kamehameha Schools are supposed to meet sometime in January, so I plan to reach out to Bobbie again and see if there were any further developments.

Again, just asking how Rivian Owners here are doing their servicing etc. in Hawaii? Seen quite a few of them cruising around on the island.

The three owners I have directly communicated with have all had mobile service preformed by Rivian techs on their islands.

I speculate they are not openly divulging this because it’s certainly very costly and more major repairs would be asking for some negative PR. Thus far I haven’t heard from anyone having to ship one back to Cali for serious warranty repairs.

For the few that did need service center level repair, Rivian techs contracted to use a local shop.

Congrats of taking delivery! I’m looking forward to mine later this year. ?

I love my r1t here on Oahu. I got it in early November. Zero problems with it. No service needs. I even got it towed...gulp! I am checking in on any updates on the service center.

Have you driven on the sand yet? I’m curious how it takes softer sand given its weight.

Have not driven on sand. but i have put three outrigger canoes on top. :)

Shop access granted by my guide. 1-5 week delivery estimate. Very tempting, may still wait for my build though.
