I live in Tehachapi Ca. that is north of Lancaster (LA), in the county of Kern. The towns are Mojave, Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, Ca. City, Barstow is the east side of the region, Bakersfield is the west side of the region. Desert, snow and open areas are mega present. While this area is not going to support a new group, what about a survey of the Rivianders to get an interest in events in the region via the LA club? I know of another R1T in Tehachapi, or my part of Tehachapi, Bear Valley Springs. This area has the mega power windmills and the NASA Air Station in Mojave Air Force Base area.
Point of interest is the Ridgecrest Airport (Inyokern) has a Rivian Adventure Free Fast Charge station! This is just north of Mojave. Hwy 395 and 58 are the main ones near. The town "Hinkley" where the movie Errin Brokovitch (Julia Roberts), was made is just east of Mojave.
Likely a free full fast charge is waiting and the area is about 100 miles north of LA metro.
Greg Chick, R1T Quad Adventure with 21" and Snow & crawl mode.
I am interested in augmenting the LA club, BTW born in Santa Monica, raised in LA. a "Left Coaster".

Welcome @Greg Chick, I’m familiar with the eastward side of this area. I personally was stationed at Edward’s AFB, lived in Apple Valley / the High Desert for roughly 8 years, had friends stationed at Fort Irwin where I’d visit, and done a few TDYs at MCLB Barstow. We are working on future plans for a few multi-day trips where this may be more ideal. One of them would be to go up to Bishop and possibly Crowley Lake or even the Rubicon trail. If you think there’s possibly a good trip to be had closer to you, such as Pihute Peak, Lake Isabella, and etc. Please feel free to plan and add events. I’m always game to plan and coordinate as well. Just would ask for your local knowledge to help.

I spend a lot of time between Santa Monica and Mammoth Lakes so I pass through the area a lot. I also had the misfortune of going to high school in Lancaster so I semi know the area well. Could be interested in something based off of the Inyokern charging location.

Issabella Lake is quite a scenic drive, 4 different ways to get there. One from Bakersfield, one from Hwy 58 just south of the Lake, another from the east side near Inyokern that is said to have a Rivian station with couple hundred Kw charge power. Also the southern approach can be thru the Tehachapi Windmills, (a thousand ones a couple hundred feet high). As well Mojave has level 3 charging as does Tehachapi now. So getting to either Inyokern Airport or Tehachapi or Mojave or Bakersfield gets you to level 3 power. After those places, making the loop thru Lake Issabela is low risk for level 3 power.
