Aloha All, I scanned this thread/group looking for an answer but could not see it. I picked up my R1T Tri in early December and just received my registration package from Rivian yesterday. I understand the failed safety check and the whole registration process. I have done it before with other vehicles I brought into the the state. HOWEVER, my cover letter from Rivian says this....

"Additionally you may need to print and complete Hawaii State G-26 or G-27 form, depending on the amount of taxes already paid. Rivian is unable to provide this form."

-Anyone have experience with this? I found form G-26 and 27 easily but I have no clue how to populate them? The car is leased. Not clear at all on this and what I should do, if anything at all. Looking at what I could find for registering Rivians in Hawaii, no one has discussed this issue.

Thanks!

I recommend doing a walk in with all your paperwork to one of the satellite city halls and they will probably help you. I did that although it wasn’t a lease and they walked me through it no problem. Just a thought…

@Leon Thanks. Yeah, just trying to save on the trips and waits in line. The only thing tripping me up is that tax thing. Have no idea how to populate that form G-26 -if it is even needed....

Agree, I brought all my paperwork with me to the tax office, and they helped me with the G26 form. I ended paying $482 in additional taxes, I bought my R1S for around $78,000.

You hade a trip to the state tax office? Seriously?
JOSH565
Yes, it is state tax that needs to be paid. Your county DMV doesn't accept taxes to the state, at least in Maui county. I live on Lanai where there is no state tax office, so I had to take a boat trip over to Maui, to visit the tax office. I believe the G26 form is the proof for your county DMV, that all the state taxes have been paid.
