WTF...Rivian's Reliability Rating

Just looked at Consumer Reports (BTW, I like CR) March issue and it gave Rivian a reliability rating of "14" which is LAST on the list. Cadillac, GMC, and Jeep are better?

Can't wait to see their annual April Auto Issue. :headbang:

How can this be. I don't currently own a Rivian (yet), but I can't believe that their reliability is that bad.

Is it due to:

Owners being too picky in their CR reviews?
Owners not understanding the many settings offered which could improve ride/performanc/comfort?
Owners misusing them on rough terrain?
Investors who are shorting the stock?
Factor workers being careless, overworked?

I understand they are a new company but this all sounds like B.S.

Your thoughts please.

Huge Rivian fan. Waiting for them to be able to sell directly to Pennsylvania residents. (more B.S.)

Thanks all. ?

I dunno no major problems here and I am a G1 owner
MS Seal Beach
I have a 2024 R1S with 9,200 miles on it. The 12v battery failed after 10 months and crippled the car to where it would shudder both axles when stopping from 5 mph. It couldn't be safely driven without fear of it dying on the freeway. It was towed to El Segundo and has been there for 3.5 days and is just now available for pick-up. They couldn't put the new lithium-ion battery into the Gen 1, so it's likely to fail again in 2 years due to the daily cycling from the main battery.

I also had a problem a month ago with both main screens going black when driving on a 2-lane road in central CA @ 72 mph. I was able to pull over and it rebooted itself to normal, but that was a little scary. Maybe that was an early 12v battery issue warning?

What's worse is that you can't communicate with a Service Center directly. You have to go through a Rivian mediator, who will try to get feedback from the SC, but on three tries, the mediator hasn't been able to reach a live body. And 'emergency call back requests' have not happened.

I saw that same Reliability Rating and thought it was wrong and too low, but that's only due to my love of the R1S. Looking at the poor service (typically 3 month wait times) and poor communication along with these significant issues...yes the rating is correct.

I would still buy a new R1S!

Thanks for your feedback, glad you would by again! Sure they will continue to improve everything. I believe in Rivian.
