Aloha brothers and sisters! Im on the Big Island. I currently drive a 22 Mustang Mach-e and it’s a keeper. I‘m considering buying a R1T 2nd gen. My only reservations is what happens if i have an issue. I know i have to travel to Honolulu to pick it up for starters. I‘m worried about getting stuck w no service. Any and all comments/ suggestions would be helpful. Mahalo??️????

I started with a 21 Mach-e, and I’m gonna keep it, unless the wife would like to trade in for an R3 when available. I picked up my R1S in June on Oahu, and it has been great. I do have a couple of issues though, and I’m on the island of Lanai. One was the rear upper lift gate not being aligned after a couple of months, and started to rub on the lower gate. It had chipped the paint slightly on the passenger side, only visible when open. Found the hinge bolts where not very tight. I made adjustments myself, and tightened all bolts. The other is a slight brake fluid leak somewhere I have not been able to find. I’ve had to add brake fluid three times now. I made a service request, and Rivian has got back to me. I have a mobile service appointment for February 6th to look at both of the issues, as well as touch up the small paint chip, which I am fine with. If I wanted the lift gate to be resprayed, it would probably have to be shipped to Oahu for repairs. So if it is a repair they can do in your driveway, they will probably schedule a mobile service, which might be a couple of months out. Anything that may require the vehicle to be up on a lift, like a drive motor replacement for example, will probably have to be sent to Oahu. Enjoy your new ride!

Wow man. Lanai! You more remote than I. My Mach-e was my first EV and I bought it over a Tesla because I drive by the Ford dealership every time I’m in Hilo town. I also got the premium warranty package because shit happens! I just pray that the car starts up everyday and so far it has performed well. Take care????️??
